I think they look nice, add a low rear turbo/S2-spoiler and it will be perfect.

damn, i dig 'em. i would definitely put a set of those on mine if i had a chance. i need to get my valance on already, stupid captured nuts.

oh dude, i got my timing done and i was like SWEET FINALLY and i go out there to start it and im like.. moment of suspense... and it started (!!!) but it died a second later. i was like oh please, please, don't be improper timing and bent valves.. i spent like an hour trying to figure it out cuz i was convinced it was something simple...

so i go home and come back a couple hours later, and much to my excitement and cuprise i find out that i forgot to plug in that little hose that goes into the bottom of the intake boot. i was like oh damn, i can't believe i did that. plugged it in, and she started right up. yeah boyee.

so anyways now i need the correct air realase screw for the coolant hose on the front top part of the head. and i think i need to torque something down on the left side of the engine cuz it might be leaking oil very slightly.

but finally im makin some progress.

later

The boxed rockers will look good. The ones that Sami mentions as a dealer option are for real. The Toolmaster (Jay) has them on his 951. There was another company that made rockers that flared at the bottom and kept the "coke" bottle look. I really liked the way those looked!

Cheers

I love the look of mine. Gonna have them molded into the body when I get the car repainted.

Once they are painted they won't look bad. I'm not a big fan of the box style rockers. I prefer ones the hug closer like the 968 or a style like that.

marksportcts. do you have any other pics of your car? It looks sweet.

First off, how often do you see me post "rice" comments. I do not call everything I don't like "rice". I did not this time, just implied it.

I read an article once that interviewed Norbert Singer. For those of you that do not know who Norbert Singer is, he is THE Porsche engineer responsible for the success of the Porsche factory racing effort. Mr Singer, in the article reflected that late in the development of the 917 (after many great successes), Ferry Porsche asked that Singer give the styling department some time with the car. With great trepidation, Singer went down to styling and announced that they could do whatever they wanted, as long as it did not change the aerodynamics or add weight.

iloveporsches, given your obvious talent for deductive thought, you know what Mr Singer message was, that styling could paint it.

So you see my dear iloveporsches.....the philosophy behind these great cars is "Form Follows Function". A Philosophy that earned my respect and ownership.

Any Mustang or Honda styling department can hang fiberglass all over their car. Like you say "to each his own".

So given the request of the topic "Whats the general opinion" I merely expressed my opinion. And I now ask what function do they perform?

Feel good/Look good - Its his car, do it - rice, udontloveporsches.
Performance Gain - Norbert Singer - true to the marque

And implying that I am "just plain dumb" thats another topic.

Personally I am not a fan, but so what, its your car. I would recommend that you tie it all together with a rear valance of some type, I like the euro style versus the Turbo. Enjoy your car, it looks nice.

Bill,

I was too harsh. I apologize. But I'm sure you've seen the amount of things called 'rice' on this board: all-red tail lights, Turbo body parts on NA's, the center tail-light piece, etc. I didn't mean to imply that you are dumb. I meant that people just calling everything rice is dumb, and even then the people aren't, just the actions.

And then come the more personal attacks. Let me assure you I am plenty intelligent, though I'm not going to get into some childish pissing contest. Your post reeks of 'purist' attitude. If that is how you want to keep your car, fine; mine will be staying pretty much stock too. But realize that Porsche doesn't do eveything perfect. If the NA body was perfect, they wouldn't have redesigned the Turbo. And I doubt these rockers add any signifigant weight or hamper aerodynamics all that much, at least no more than the paint Mr. Singer allowed. I'll tell you for sure in a four years when I get my Mechanical Engineering degree from U of I...use your 'deductive thought' to determine how hard it is to get into the 3rd best eng. school in the nation.

Implied or plainly stated, the message remains. Making one's car a little more unique with a subtle side skirt shouldn't be called 'rice'.

BTW, nice pun on my name
