Tom Pultz has an excellent write up on "Big-Black/Red" brake upgrades at http://www.944s2.com/brakes/brakes.htm
I recently did a price check on the least expensive setup described by Tom and it can be found at:

They may be a little much for a street 944 NA, but they have the same piston diameters as the big red caliper and they stop . . . like right now. You will need at least the appropriate 16" wheels and most 17" wheels will clear them. The calipers are very clean and good seals - i.e. usable/serviceable calipers. Rotors are 31.3mm and are freshly painted w/ hi heat black and freshly turned - Metal master pads are 70% left and includes new vibr. dampers. I was asking $550 but I will take $500 for the set up.
THIS WILL ONLY WORK FOR '87-89 CARS!!!
(unless you want to do some custom rotor/hat combo or something like that)
I also have available a set of adapters and hardware that fit late turbos ($100) but I think an NA will require a different adapter. The Excellence issue that describes this conversion (S4 fronts) to Burger's '89 NA is issue #115.
