Post Mirror adhesive?

My mirror was getting loose, and with a quick pry it just fell off. Is there a special mirror glue I should use to stick it back on, or just some superglue? The mirror itself fell off, not the assembly, so I need some sort of adhesive to just glue it back in place.

Take it to a glass shop. They should do it for free. If you've got full coverage, you can call them up while you're at work, they'll come to you and do it and handle insurance for you without affecting your premiums.

You can buy the glue at any Auto parts store. It is designed for this application.

I used 3M double-sided tape. Seems to have worked pretty good.

I was fooling with my sun visor when I knocked mine off, didn't take much force either. Just fell off and onto the floorboard while I was driving.

I went to Autozone and bought a kit for like $4 that had some glue, an alcohol swab, sandpaper, and a razorblade.

scrape off the old glue, swab the area with alcohol, sand button, apply the curing agent, then glue and let dry for about a half hour.. pretty simple.

you need to glue the metal 'button' onto the windshield, not the whole mirror, otherwise it probably'll never stick.

you can take the button off, just tap it with a screwdriver. Mine took considerable force, so be careful.

then clip the mirror onto the glued-down button and you're all set. Took me 45 minutes.

I'm not clear...the mirror fell off the housing or the button came off the windshield?
Either way, Pep Boys or like that has a different specific adhesive for each use.
If you're trying to take the button off the windshield don't pull; twist, and be careful. You can pull a chunk of windshield off with it. And you need to heat the button to let the adhesive release. Use a hair dryer, or maybe even a soldering iron (on the METAL not the windshield) and be careful not to let the coating on the windshield melt.

Oops... I was talking about my side-mirrors. ;-) The glass fell out of them.

Yeah, sorry, I was talking about the side mirror, the driver side to be specific.

I used 3M weatherstrip adhesive on both my side mirrors almost a year ago. I wiped the back of the mirror clean and cleaned the black plastic part on the mirror assembly that the mirror glues on to. Then I put a few swirls of adhesive on the back of the mirror and pressed it (not too hard) onto the plastic mounting area and held it for a minute. Press evenly on the mirror because the gears that hold the mirror adjustment will slip if you push hard on one side only. Use the black colored 3M adhesive in case some squishes out.
