I think the point is not masking these smells,
its fixing the problem

The vinegar isn't a mask for the smells, it will get rid of them... now if the source is oh say MOTHBALLS, they need to be removed.. or mold etc, but if it is only the smell that is lingering in the seats, carpet etc.. the vinegar will rid the car of those smells...
