Default water temp gauge question

I want to install a water temp gauge but im not sure where the stock sensor is. It looks like its on the head but im not sure if thats it. If so it looks like a mechanical gauge. am i right about this?

Same place, 2 spade connectors on WT gauge sender, plug in sensor is for DME, and a turbo has an additional WT sensor on the motor side of the turbo in the water fitting...
