I have the head off of my 944S, and I am remaking this into a track car. It's a great time to remove things like cruise control (done) and all the AC junk besides the compressor (hard lines, etc)
I attached the PET diagram of the AC setup. Looking at the connections at the firewall (around #s 33, 34, 10), it seems like a blockoff plate would exist for non-AC cars. Is there a factory solution for that, or have people found something better?

oh I am doing this right now
just got that part that's under alternator out
now I need to figure out how to remove hard lines as well
going to take them all out right now while car is still half-disassembled
great topic though!
are you getting a A/C delete kit or a shorter belt?

i did a lindsey kit with a FULL delete including the evaporator.
it does leave two pretty sizable holes in the firewall. nothing that some body pugs cant take care of (i don't have any yet)
i cut them. saving them wasnt worth the time/effort.
it didnt work
they were not going back
i didnt want to ship them

+1 for dremeling the hard line to make it easier to pull through.
As for a block-off plate, it's pretty easy to make one yourself. You can get some aluminum stock from Ace Hardware or Home Depot, cut it to cover the holes (I'd recommend making a template from file folder material first), and then rivet it to the firewall with some 3M Fireblock (or similar sealant) spread around the hole to help fill in any air pockets under the cover in case of fire.

ah so removing this A/C stuff is not really THAT hard at all
I ended up not even touching the lines going into the radiator-looking thing, just unbolted EVERYTHING related to the A/C in the front - took the radiator off - and then dropped the WHOLE thing down
radiator is back in now
and I still have to remove these 2 hard lines going into firewall
I think I'll "cut" them off too
should I dig into the under-dash thing? or leave that part alone?

if its something really easy, then why not, if its a real PITA and the dash has to come out or something, then screw that (at least, at the moment, LOL)
so I should cut the lines as close to firewall as possible, and plug the holes? caulk or something? lol

is the bolt covered by the rubber gasket/boot? am I supposed to take it off to see the bolt? or to my lines (early car) attach some other way?

ok got my hard lines out
1) remove glove box
2) remove under dash
these things only have a couple of screws
undid the lines that are behind dash
cut the lines by the firewall
unscrew 2 clamps that hold the lines, right next to when the lines go through firewall
then wiggle and wrestle with them to get them out
pretty easy
now, my dash is still apart, anything else under dash I can remove while its apart anyways, that's A/C related? I want to keep the heat
