I think it's around 29 or 30. Maybe less. it's so short I never looked. All I know is that without chips (to raise the redline ) he is unable to complete a 0-60 run in 2nd gear.

Space, can you tell us how the S-AFC works on your car and how it is wired up?

the Apexi Super AFC is a air fuel controller....it allows you to add or take away fuel being inject through out a wide range of rpm,

it tells you your air flow, throttle position, rpm, O2 voltage, % correction made on a blue LCD...it will catch the attention of everyone that gets in the car...

you can view these value on a data chart layout, gauge layout, and a graphical layout which you can record anywhere from 15 sec up to 60 sec. and replay back your data...you can also see your max values, or if you need to know at that point what it value is, you can freeze it and observe...

it wires up to the ECU....although on the porsche im having trouble hooking it up because of the analog signaling (i was told it will work so i'll try again) i have one on my scooby and it wire up fairly easy.....all you need to know is what wire is the air flow, throttle, etc.....and splice into them.....and its done...

anything else you would like to know feel free to ask.....

Got tired of reading the responses, so duno if this has been brought up. Why not just leave the compression at 9.5:1??? 7PSI at that compression ought to be getting close to dangerous though right? Couldn't you have forged pistons made that made the compression 9.0:1 or something? I'm stupid on this, but from what I do know, it just didn't make much sense to me why you were dropping the compression so much, is it because you can use other 944 turbo parts? Does the fuel system and **** depend on your compression, and you're trying to avoid a customized fuel system or something, just wondering... thanks

i picked the turbo pistons because they strong...and also cost alot less then custom....i also tried getting custom made and no one will touch the rings because of the block.....im dropping the compression so low because i want to pump some boost into this thing....i found a company to beef up my SC and make me a pulley so the 12 psi is looking good....or maybe more..

also why i decided to drop compression is im going to run nitrous also....so i dont want high compression+SC+N2O.....

i took the fuel system because it would be cheaper then a custom system.....later on down the road, after i get stage 2 and 3 done on the car, im going to get a engine managment kit....but the porsche turbo s injectors and fuel pump should be good....and the fuel system doesnt depend on the compression....if im going to add forced induction the number one thing one needs to be concerned about is how they are going to add fuel so no detonation will occur....i figure that the fuel system i have will do well for me.....

9.5:1 with sc dangerous?!?!?!...i dont know....i guess it depends on what you do to the other parts....if everything is forged, i cant see where you would have any problem....but i dont know.....

thats all the time i have right now...i gotta go play army for 4 days.....but keep the questions and comments coming guys...im loving this..... <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />

DO NOT run 7psi without timing control or intercooling, I know!! My '86 n/a that I installed the Callway turbo, the #1 piston was intact, while the other 3 shared 7 cracks on the ring lands. These were the factory cast 9.5:1 pistons. With the factory forged, I've run 20+psi without any problems. As for the S-AFC, I know what it is, it is how you are getting it to work the 944 that I am wondering about, ie wiring, setup, ect. Keep us posted.

spacecowboy, I still haven't gotten a reply from you about this:

Why not just run 5-7lbs, with an intercooler as suggested by others, on stock compression? As long as you take care of timing and fuel I don't see it being a problem with an otherwise stock 944 engine... Was your engine seriously hurt before you started this whole thing? Sorry I don't follow all the treads.

i thought i did reply to your post over1g....

oh well....i dont want to run just 5-7 psi...i want some power and the only way im going to get that with stock turbo pistons is with more boost....why not with stock compression?...i tried getting forged pistons made....couldnt get the rings due to the honed silicon...so i went with the turbo spec since they were available

the intercooler i do have...its water injection....and my timing is the msd 6btm for retard timing....so either way with stock compression or lowered and along with marksportcts statement done run over 7psi with out a intercooler or timing, i got it taken care of....

my engine was in good condition....i drove it around for about 8 months while i was getting everything for the rebuild....

for the afc....the wiring is easy...i already know what wires i need that go to the afc and ecu....the problem im having now is the signaling....the porsche uses analog....my subaru uses digital....apparently the afc only uses digital.....but im going to contact apexi and find out how i can hook this up...once that is done, then its fairly easy to setup...

thanks,
space
