Default Pin Spanner Question

Hey, I've got to remove my balance shaft pulleys and have exhausted myself and a friend attempting to do it with 2 allen wrenches and a prybar.. I need to get a pin spanner.. My question is: Does anyone have any experience with this cheap adjustable Spanner Wrench from Harbor Freight? http://www.harborfreight.com/adjusta...nch-36554.html .. It looks like it would work but I am not sure on its fitment/strength.. My Balance shaft pulley bolts are wayyyy tight.. Thanks

I bought 90 degree long handle needle nose pliers from harbor freight. They haven't arrived yet. VAN said they'd work in his timing belt video.

i can attest to the paragon balance tool though, ive already used it for like 6 belt jobs (2 on my car and other peoples), and i needed a hammer one time and only had it around...thing's made of like 1/2" steel...

Those HF pliers don't open wide enough, I have a pair.

I took two pieces of 1" flat bar, drilled 1/4" holes in each end and put a bolt in one end. Drove 1/4" bolts thru the other ends and welded them The "pins" need to be off-center in the bar so that the bar doesn't block the socket in the middle (I had to grind a little).

They've come in handy on a couple other cars.

The pair Van uses in his video worked, although the pair he has are orange and the ones I ordered are blue.

If these blue ones I ordered don't work, does anyone know of a cheap alternative I could pick up at an Autozone, Pep Boys or Sears? I really like Autozone's tool loan program btw.

If I get my tools back, you are more than welcome to "borrow" them for cost of shipping... as is anyone.. Tony4x4NC has them right now, but anyone needing them is more than welcome to borrow them...

shoot him a PM, and as long as he can put his hands on them, ask him to ship them to you, refference this thread (link) and tell him to give me a call if he needs to check it out..

All I ask is you return them in the condition you got them, and you let me know you are getting them from X or sending them to Y... I will get em back BEFORE I need em... so it works out for everyone!

AND just for those who might care... THAT IS WHAT RENNLIST IS ABOUT..HELPING
