Post Windshield replacement? Can I use 944 glass in a 968? Need your help!

I called the local glass shop a new windshield for my 968 is $1100 Canadian, but I also had him check for a 944 (S2) and it was $700. Are these interchangeable? Thanks.

could someone maybe take a peek at their glass and see what the model # is?

My glass model # that I read off the windshield says,

Sekurit
Saint Gobain
43R-00115
DOT 32/M91/AS1
VSG tinted

I'll look at mine tonight for you if nobody else answers first. The rear quarter glass is different but I would think the windshield glass the same.

I just called another shop and they quoted me $400 installed for a 91 944 windshield! This is waaaaay cheaper than a 968 windshield, I sure hope they are interchangeable! Will save some serious $$$$$

I don't care about radio antennas and the like as I don't listen anyway.......

checked PET, they're both 944 part numbers:

clear: 944: 944 541 011 13; 968: 944 541 011 16
tinted: 944: 944 541 011 12; 968: 944 541 011 15
tint band: 944: 944 541 011 14; 968: 944 541 011 17

it might work, but i'd like to see both cars together to eyeball it and maybe take measurements.

good luck...

I wonder what the airbags would have to do with the windshield......

Thanks!

I wonder what the difference is between "tinted" and "tint band" ??

Thanks for the info!

I just looked for all my receipts, as my PO replaced the windshield in my '89 S2. It must be at my mothers place, but if I recall correctly, it was much lower then what I expected, somewhere around $300 or $350? I'll be able to get to the receipts on Friday to give you the part number and price if that would help.

peckster...my early '85 has the same number as your late series '86 (43R-000-880) so I guess the early & late are they the same size. do you have an antenna in the glass? I don't.

while we are at it, is the 924 w/s the same size as the 944?

air conditioned cars used to come with little darker/full tint windows...while the tint band was clear except for the top 4-6 inches. dunno if this is still true.
