Don't Forget that the 951 was the worlds fastest production car the entire time that it was in production. Or at least that is what I have read.

I think Chris said it all -- whatever! My 'fake' porsche rides like it is on rails, brakes and corners great, still looks good, gets plenty of looks, and all-in-all is a VERY good imitation of a Porsche!

And guess what guys, the market value of a 928 is probably less than a 944 right now. both of which have a market value that is a fraction of the slower crappier 911.
from an investment/market perspective there is only a market for the 911's.
Bitch at me all you want for saying the 944 and the 928 are investment dogs. but then kiss the ground your 944 rolls on because if it wasnt a dog/orphan/bastard whatever you (and I) wouldnt be driving one.
Last year someone wrote him about buying a bunch of 944/968's for investment. the answer was stay away. that means our car is "the affordable antidote to rice".
Think about it; you have less invested in your 944 than most people spend on their rice, than most people spend on a very stimulating used camry. and the cool thing is when I leave my keychain on my desk people know I have a porsche and think ooh/ahh. lets keep it our secret that im driving a porsche for less than they are zipping around in camrys.

I read that review as well. Although I won't be canceling my subscription over it, I am sending an email to him expresssing my disappointment of his (pointless)attack on the front engine Porsche's. As posted above, the Lotus he bought for himself will require SUBSTANTIALLY more maintenance than our 924/944/951/968's over its (remaining) life. And forget about getting parts! My buddy had an older Lotus Espirit that he ended up junking because of the rarity and cost of replacement parts.
IMO, the point (I think) he was trying to make was that the Cayenne will be more harmful than good for Porsche's image, but I don't see the analogy in trashing our front engine cars. Yeah, they had some problems along the way, but didn't every generation 911? Look at current Boxster problems.
Now my blood is up. EVERYBODY send this guy an email expressing your dissatisfaction with his review, and copy everybody AutoWeek as well. I'll post their email addresses if anybody wants them.

I have always druled over the front engined Pcars more than the 911, don't get me wrong I love the 911 as well, I just thought they were absolutely beatiful and had unmistakable lines. Recently I purchased one of these dream cars to me and have not regreted it whatsoever, I love that my 89S2 was cheaper than a comparable 911, yet it does not give away much ground in performance, it is still a high quality, high performance automobile from one of the best sports car manufacturers in the world. I would like to find a nice 928 as well and eventually a 911 but the problem I ran into is that those cars were too high priced and not in the best condition even at twice what I paid for the S2. Perhaps if one considers performance value, more people will realize that the 944 and especially a 951 are possibly the best bang for the buck. I thought I had a great car with my highly modified Mustang, which by the way would kill my S2 in a drag race, but when shopping for a good used performance car people forget that the build quality of lesser cars is nowhere near that of the Porsche, at 13 years old this car has no rattles, the doors and hatch close with a solid thump (try that with even a new Mustang) handles like it is on rails, stops on a dime, and certainly has adequate power, not to mention that everything including the AC still works on it.

[quote]Roughly half the Boxsters are built in Finland, undoubtedly using a lot of parts and subsystems not of German manufacture. Does this mean it's not a true Porsche? Absolutely not.

Here's the url for finnish "Porsche factory"
http://www.valmet-automotive.com/index2.html
Porsche just made a new contrac with Valmet automotive to continue Boxter manufacturing in Finland. They claimed the quality to be better than german made cars...Who knows.Soon over 80% of Boxters will come from Finland. Also lots of finnish subcontractors are making Boxter parts.
Some of these parts are also used in Zuffenhausen factory, for example taillight units which are made by the finnish company Talmu http://www.talmu.fi
Valmet also manufactures Saab Cabriolets.Actually they have never been manufactured in Sweden.Saab cab manufacturing will be moved to Austria because Saab needs to produce new 9-3 model also in Finland.Valmet has made Saab since 1968.
Most of Saab's sold in US were made in Finland.
