they probably quoted him on a "racing" cylinder head

if you check LR their price is about the same ball-park for an "all out" cylinder head

yeah exactly

when I was looking for someone to rebuild my cylinder head, the quotes ranged from $350-500 depending on whether I was sending my cylinder head in or not, and whether it needed new valves or not (and how many)

also, you can find used cylinder heads in $150 shipped price range, and rebuilt heads for around $250 (but most are slightly used after rebuild) - so instead of taking a chance, I decided to get mine rebuilt so that I would know that it's good

I have 2 cylinder heads FS, both N/A one beat blasted and decked, slight scrape where the cam tower goes. $75

Another head pulled off of an 83 - $50

Also I have a box of good valves/springs/retainers/ etc ... throw me an offer for what you want, I am trying to clear stuff out!

i appreciate all of the help and offers guys.

i ended up getting a fresh, remanufactured head with new parts cheaper than the new parts themselves would have cost me.

if anyone needs a CHEAP core for a NA let me know

i said cheaper than NEW parts. not cheaper than used parts.

fresh head i bought = $260 (machined with new parts)
fix my head locally = $200 + parts
broadfoot rebuild = $190 + $80 shipping

the local+ parts would have been cheaper, but with the option i took i get all new parts and the car will be done a week or better sooner.

the car is sitting outside 50 miles away from me (in a safe driveway, but ive got to get it move it soon)
