The description of the car reads "1981 Porsche 924 GTR Race Car ID# WPOZZZ93ZBS72022. A total of 17 GTR Porsches were built. This ultimate 924 Porsche Produces 375 HP and will get you from 0-60 MPH in under 5 seconds". No actual mention of racing history.

These were parked across the row from the 924. I would take either of these over the 924 even if it was the 100% original race car that competed in LeMans

My guess is that it belongs to a collector that isn't really in any hurry to sell at all, and is on long term (permanent?) consignment to the dealer, who doesn't really expect it to sell either, but thinks it's good use of floor space for eye-catching "passing trade" advertising (which is probably true). And the owner probably thinks it's better on display rather than under some dust cover in a garage somewhere (which is also probably true).
The price is probably set for the "you never know" deal. Some Texas billionaire that has a big night in Vegas or something, and must have it... not very likely, but you never know.
So I'd take the "asking price" about as seriously as that.

Hey you can buy my car and I'll give anyone at least 50% off that price and it gets to 60mph in under 5 secs.

There's also a 1966 911S for $160,000, a 73 911E for $125,000 and the prototype 911 turbo slant nose for $250,000. All the cars seem very expensive.
