+1 on that ,sell it & get yourself a 951 who doesn't need major repair & then updated & details it to your taste at the same time having pleasure doing it not ending with a bunch of problems ,like mention by trading you migth get yourselve in a money pit cause anybody trading a 951 for a 944N/A there bound to be something wrong with it.

Taylor,

I understand your position and think you are going about it the right way (get rid of the 944NA unmolested), but the wrong tactic.

Like Tom, I think that a for sale ad in the classified section or Renns, as well as in this forum and the 944turbo forum would be much better than a trade. Most 951 owners are boost addicts who can't go backwards However, pick a good price point sell your car (very nice/clean car BTW), and then buy a decent 951. That is the better way to go, I think.

Then you can join us in the Turbo section to bitch about what a PITA the lower turbo bolts are to access

Good Luck!

I know you guys are right, and i appreciate the input.

But realistically, what could i get for my car? And what could i pickup a 951 for?

I would think you could around $5.5-$6k for your NA, maybe a bit more if everything is up to date.

For a decent 951 around $8k.....although there is a 'Lister selling his right now for $5500 I believe with all the maintenance done. I forget the circumstances of the sell, but it is ONE hell of a deal. Bullfrog...or something was his screen name IIRC.

Take a look at this it's on Pelican 87 117xxx miles asking $2,800.oo compare it to your car witch is a lot darn nicer then that one & use your own jugdment as how you should ask for your's. I'm not saying is gone to get what is asking for but he still asking that kind of money.

Haha no, there is acces to the beer fridge. We need to clean out our garage. So i have room to work. haha.

And i have no clue what to ask. I had it on cl for trade or sale, for 6000, because i just wanted to trade it for the most part, and i had a couple of people bite at that. Which was fully suprising, but i'm sure there just the regular CL tire kickers. That here porsche and think $$$.

I guess it all depends on how much i could get a 951 for. I'de try and sell mine for around 4500 or so. But I'm sure i won't get anything close to that one here, where mint 944's are a dime a dozen.

$4-5k should be doable for your N/A.
I bought my 87 951 for sub-$4k last year and drove it home 650 miles without any problems. Deals are out there...but maybe not as good as last year since the economy has been getting better and prices are going back up.

It's just all a matter of someone wanting mine, and finding someone selling a 951 all at the right time. haha

i watched for over a month and found my NA for $2800, have kicked that # up to $4500 since (new tires, alternator, sway bar bushings, transmission, etc)

i watched and watched after finding my first 944 possibility for $5500 and deciding that was too much (it was guards red, and in immaculate condition though). i found what i wanted for the price i desired, and got one with full service records, am third owner, and own a car my porschefile friend considers 'as close to driving a brand new 1987 944 as possible' (paraphrased quote from drifta944)

keep your eyes open, keep your current '44 clean, and you may actually find what you want. I truly love this car, i own an '07 Tiburon GT which i also love, but my '44 with 2 less cylinders and 20 years seniority can not only keep up with but turns 4x as many heads and makes me feel like I'm 16 again (in 1987 i was 16).

enjoy your car, love it, treat it right and you may actually get good money out of it someday and find a 951 you want! personally, i would enjoy a turbo, but i'd trade my tib in first! (not going to happen, it will be traded in on a new Genesis 3.8T as soon as my payments turn right side up)

^ so true!

Scot, you should swing by tomorrow... Taylor plans on heading over in the evening so we can meet each other and just BS about 944's. I'm interested in seeing his car in person because it really does look like it's in excellent condition in the pictures. The test will be... does it drive as good and smooth as yours?? Also Mike plans on coming by as well, so it will be another fun 944 evening of shooting the ****

It's honestly not THAT nice, it has a couple parking lot dings in the driver door, and a spot on the hood where someone tried to shut it with probably some tool or something in the engine bay that cause it to dent up. But she's in decent shape(:

haha, it's the truth. I'm curious to see how she drives in comparison to another 944, mines the only 944 I've ever been around, so it will be nice to have something to compare it to. ad for 90+ on I-4. a friend of my dads saw me going about 110 on I-4.so ive tried to cut down on it. but I may be ordering a detector today(:

Are you going to elliots too?
