No one can do anything until my car is done! That is an order.

Now.. once it is done and within 1 day of driving, I am all up for it. California would not be an option for me.. although I would love a nice mountain drive.

Cincinnati... a lot hillier than you think!

Love to!

And April, why that'll give you enough time to talk my CO into letting me out of duty, send me a hundred bucks for gas, plus another couple hundred in lost wages, letters to my professors letting me out of schoolwork for a weekend...

I'd love to but I don't know that I can afford it.

Ca isn't very "central". I think most of us are Mid Westerns.

I like the idea of a waterpumper rally. Several of you have already offered some good ideas:

1. Hersey, several of us planned to go there anyway.
2. SE Ohio thru the Hocking Hills State Park, a favorite test loop of our friends at Car & Driver, and for good reason. We can start in Columbus and run the hills with the finish at Portsmouth, OH for a BBQ & Beer dinner at the historic Portsmouth Brewery. Hits some of the best twisties north of the mason & dixon line. Rt 141, 619, 93, and a host of others. Ohio already has a nucleus from last years event.
3. E. Tennessee, has some of the best twisties period. Start at say Townsend, TN, run foothills parkway, Rt 129 (the Dragon 318 curves in 11 miles) the Cherohola Skyway, Dinner somewhere nice, up the next day for a run up the Blue Ridge Parkway.
4. Southern West Virginia thru the scenic hills to White Sulphur Springs to stay at the Greenbriar for Dinner and cocktails. After dinner soak in the sulphur spring. The next morning make the run into Warm Springs Virginia to the Homestead for Sporting Clays and/or golf at Sam Snead's old home course. Primo roads and 4 or 5 star accommodations depending upon who is counting. A bit pricey, yes it is, but then it is completely in keeping with the excellence that Porsche drivers expect.

Me, I am partial to the beer & BBQ route, but love the quiet elegance of the Greenbriar as well. I could go for any one of these or maybe even a couple of them, say one is spring and one in fall?

I totally second the Hocking Hills drive. I spent a lot of time in that area when I went to Ohio University.. gorgeous country, and some really fun roads. Even if you go the speed limit.. it is fun. There have been several rallies up there with varous car clubs. New blacktop in most of the area.. you get the idea.

Ohio being a central location could be good for most. I'd be willing to drive a good distance as well if there is a better place. However, this is one that should really be concidered.
