Problem installing front spacers
Hey guys,
Please let me know asap (I would like to get them on)
I am installing 1.25 inch spacers in the front for my Kinesis supercups and when I put the spacer on the front, it doesn't fit snug, it is tight, but it still has space between the hubs. We figured out why, the front hub/axle cap (for lack of a better term (if you need me to clarify more please let me know, i'm not sure what it is called)) was blocking it, we removed the front hub/axle cap and now it fits snug, has anybody had this problem and if so, how should I go about making the cap work?
Is the cap essential?
Stefan

I had the same problem....those wont work. They will on the rears though. You need to keep your bearing cap on. I tried three different dealers off ebay with the same results,
Ended up biting the bullet and bought the fronts here....

here was my short-lived thread....sound familiar?

Call around different Machine Shops in your area to see if they will trim the inside down some more for you. Just depends if they have a big enough chuck on their lathe.

Have any of you guys thought about just changing the cap itself? I know this sounds tacky but it would work and it would not be visible, what about covering it with some sort of a tape instead, like duct tape to not stop the spacer from going in and it will still seal the spot.
Good idea?

It cost me $24.00 to have both machined properly. Any machine shop with a penny has the right equipment to do this and it takes about 10 minutes total. Leave the cap alone and do it correctly, you will appreciate it later.
Good Luck

That is where you need to have machined out. Measure the cap diameter with caliper or take the cap in with you so the shop can get the correct measurement.
