Post Anyone have a good DME for sale?

I am looking for a new (used) DME for my car. I need part number 944.618.121.04. Please respond or e-mail me if you have this part and don't want a fortune for it! E-mail address is "jwchance@hotmail.com".

Thank you all,

Jason

I take it that jumping the terminals did not work?

Did you go and get my relay?

No I didn't get the relay. I jumped 87b & 87 to 30 and was getting spark and the fuel pump was running, however the injectors are still not firing. Go figure!

When I jump 87b to 30 I can clearly hear the fuel pump running. When inserting the relay back in I can't hear the fuel pump when I turn the key to the on position. Makes me wonder if my DME relay and DME are bad. Relay not turning on fuel pump and injectors not firing because of DME being bad......

What a bummer of a week. I can't function correctly without my car running.

Thanks again,

Jason

Well... you could chill in front of the TV with a soldering iron and touch up the contacts.

This is a strange one!

I had a no-start due to the injector wires being old and broken at the injector boots. I pulled them and rewired, and now its fine. I almost replaced the DME.

It ended up being a $2 fix, nothing major, but hard to troubleshoot. The wiring had just baked and cracked, allowing the wires to short and preventing the injectors from firing.

You might try it, just to check.

I checked that when I was over at Jasons. I had the same problem with my 951. The exception is that 1 or 2 injectors won't fire in the case of split wires. None of his injectors are pulsing, but he has battery voltage to them.

Also this, if I recall correctly, the injectors fire by pulling pin 2 to ground. All we could get is a 9v dip. That is when the pulse would hit, it would go from 12v to 9v, not 12v to 0v.

Anyone? Hello? This one has me. Crazy thing is the car went from running to not running without even moving it from the garage. It idled for about 20 minutes, shut off to cool, then attempted to be re-started about an hour later.

I'm puzzled the most!

I did speak to my mechanic about the 12v on ignition and dropping to 9v while cranking and this is normal behavior for injectors. The DME actually does the grounding for the injector and causes it to fire, which all the more makes me believe that I have a bad DME.

I don't think it is the DME. If your wrench said 9V is acceptable at cranking then the injectors would fire, because you are getting that. I am not sure if a 3V drop is enough to open the injector, so if anyone knows, chime in.

If you did not see any pulse, or any power for that matter, to the injectors, then the DME would be at fault since it would not function at all.

I am going to bring over my FPR and fuel dampener when I get off work, if you will be around. Call you when I get done here. (Sometime after 7)

Oh.. also, anyone know for sure if the flow from the fuel pump goes to the FPR or to the Dampener?

Yes, I will be around. Could you also bring your other DME relay to test?

Thanks again!

Jason -

Did not get out of work until well after midnight. I am stuck here all day again. I should be around Monday night, so lets get together then.

Granny -

Let me give 1 more crack at his car, and if we cannot get it going, I would be very appreciative if you could send out the DME to me for testing purposes. If it works, I'll hook you and Jason up.

Later!

Perry,

That's cool. I figured something came up. Give me a call or shoot me an e-mail when you get some time and we can hook up to nip this prob in the butt!

Thanks,

Jason
