Talking Center Console/Dash Carbon Fiber

Does this make me a "ricer"? It took me a couple of days to get used to it, but I like it! I couldn't stand the carpeted shifter, and silver paint that originally came on the console. Let me know what you guy's think.

It wasn't hard, just took a little time. Total cost about $20 worth of carbon fiber sheeting and a couple of hours, I am dealing with flat surfaces though.

I think it looks great, normally I don't go for that sort of thing but I feel that updates an otherwise dated dash very well

Why not the guage cluster too?

In my attempt to update my early dash, I removed all of the silver colored pieces (including heater controls) , sanded and painted them to match the exterior (Gemini Grey Metallic), then clearcoated them. Came out quite well. Not too much different from your normal early dash, but a little classier if you ask me.
Nice job!

Haven't gotten around to the main gauge cluster yet, but it's coming.

Someone on the e-mail list threatened to make carbon (early) gauge clusters at one point. I tried to get him to make on for me a few times and finally settled on a price, but every time he bails on it. I have yet to get one. I used to have a link to his site, I'll see if I can look it up. Maybe if we dogpile him he will finally get around to making them.

That is very good work, I'm impressed with how it turned out.

It is always good to see people trying new things, it is the only way to make a car unique...

Where can you buy carbon fiber sheets like that? I just got my 1987 924s and I think that would look great. For 20 bucks it would be well worth it.

I'm surprised no one has yet.

I'm working on a CF instrument cluster for my race car, but it won't be like the stock cluster. It will only have a tach and 4 52mm gauges (and perhaps a couple of idiot lights). Just started on the plug today. I also have a plug for a CF 2 gauge pod to replace the speaker grill, but I have to make a couple of detail improvements before making the mold.

BTW, HY, the CF looks great. I usually don't like that sort of thing, but if my 944 were a road car, I'd be ordering the vinyl right now.

Is there carbon fibre also in Porsche GT3's interior...That's the ultimate-rice-mobile

I just got almost 30kg's of Carbon Fibre from a friend of mine...Iam in the process of making the molds of the late interior pieces, so i will replace orginal panels totally.I have plans to make engine dressing pieces as well and perhaps some intercooler pipes as well.Let see how these turn out.Won't necesserily use interior parts myself; they are for my friend.

I got the Carbon Fiber from:

www.acp-composites.com

Click on their tech line, I spoke with George. They make carbon Fiber sheets in different thicknesses and sizes-just tell him what you want to do.

All I did was take the silver paint off of the pieces, and cut the CF to fit. I got a pretty thin sheet, as these support no weight-cut them with Cutco scissors, and a razor blade.
