Default Paintwork advice - clear coat blistering

The paintwork on my bonnet (um... same thing as a 'hood', I believe, as opposed to something into which a young lady wearing gingham might stick her head) is doing bad things - see attached pics, but essentially the lacquer/clear coat is lifting and peeling off the underlying paint (Maraschino Red) in a few spots around the edge. As it's not happening on any other panels, I guess it's down to a shoddy respray at some point... the question is what can I do about it?

I don't want the expense of respraying the whole thing, at least not right now, though of course that's the only proper fix. But I'm wondering if it's worth getting hold of the appropriate factory paint in a rattle can, plus clear coat, and touching it up myself.

If it was just the colour, rather than colour plus the clearcoat, I'd be a bit more confident that I could a not-too-horrible job of it, but the colour+lacquer thing makes me more apprehensive that I'll end up with a couple of badly mismatched patches - which in a way could look worse than the peeling lacquer.

What do y'all think? If I'm careful and a bit lucky can I improve things, or is it best just to wait to do the job properly?

ps. please excuse the otherwise slightly grubby paintwork - with all this volcanic dust around I decided to leave washing for a few days

...I guess a better way of asking the question would be: what's the trick to touching up this kind of paintwork damage? How do I blend in the new paint and the clearcoat to the existing layers?

Yes! it did cross my mind that a bit more vinyl would cover it all up quite well... as I've left last year's Le Mans stickerage on for 10 months now, it's about time I did something new.

no real way to touch that up nicely. You can touch it up w/ a brush but it will probl. flake around that spot as well.
