Default 86 motor with 89 dme?

My 89 motor went ker-blamo at NJMP last weekend. I just picked up a 86 motor to replace. Several folks have told me I can use my 89 dme and harness with the 86 motor. But they have been fuzzy with the details.

Can I do this? Anything I should look out for? Are the injectors the same between the motors?

Since a lot of what was on the 89 motor was new or recently replaced, I'd prefer to use items from it rather than the unknown bits on the used motor.

Thanks!
