Found it interesting. These are guys that live eat and breath cars, and for the most part it shows in what they drive.

In PArticular the executive editor Doug Kott 944S2

Keeping in mind I'm sure they could afford whatever they want.

There are some really crappy cars in those guys garages - kinda disappointing. Then again, it just goes to show you that even they can't afford the cars they write about.

When you think about it, why do so many people buy a magazine that features cars that only a handful can afford? And if you can afford one, do you have the time to read Road and Track?

Only thing I really saw that I was interested in was a couple of Triumph TR-6's. I always wanted one of those. Not sure why.

Oh yah, now I remember - I have a few bucks left over from my last Porsche reapir and I'm dying to throw it away on another money pit!

I have two very good friends on the masthead of Sport Compact Car (freelancers), another friend who is a staffer there, and finally, know another staffer reasonably well. Magazine writers don't make that much. One of the staffers was offered the Engineering Editor job at Car & Driver when the previous one was killed in testing. He was offered less money than he was making at SCC, which was not a killing by any means.

No, the attraction of working for a magazine is getting to drive great cars all the time (somebody else's that is), and also with a magazine like SCC that does project cars, you get free parts fairly often. But that's about it.

Hey Keith, you going to the BMWCCA concours on Sunday? IIRC it's being held with the PCA as well. I'm planning on going if it's reasonably nice out. I have to get new wheels for the Bimmer and need some advice and hope to meet new friends as well.

Oh, my car....

BTW, I have a photo of the radio/CD player we talked about if you are still interested for your 951.

Well maybe not Geo. But here were a fair few P-cars in the mix. And at least some intersting cars besides.

If I had the opportunity to sample just about every car available in the US market, why would I want to invest in such cars myself? I think that's part of the equation: they don't NEED to buy expensive cars, since they have the opportunity to drive them anyway.

But it is cool that the Porsche name does come up in R&T from time to time. Peter Egan (love his Miscellaneous Ramblings column) restored a 356 not too long ago.

Just my $0.42

Geo,
I was originally planning on putting my car in the show, but I've decided against the idea as a form of protest. I'm very upset that the LSR PCA has allowed the Marque to insist that other car companies be allowed to show. While I like and appreciate other automobiles, I'm peved that I, as a member of LSR, have to pay for a multi club event. The clincher came when the Mustang club was invited along with the Ferrari and BMW clubs. Don't get me wrong, I like Mustangs (have owned several), would love to be able to afford a Ferrari, and am looking to pick up a BMW in the not to distant future - but this was suppose to be a Porsche Club Concours event. I have never minded the mix with the BMW guys as we share a common heritage - but Mustangs - no thanks, I'll pass.

And yes, I'm very interested in the radio - send me a photo/link/etc.
