Cool! What are some of those reasons (beyond the weight)? Have to remember them for the sales pitch if/when I ever sell mine...

Oh, and nicely bought, shiners!

The weight for sure. Manual steering, and the motor of which had forged rods and crank. Furthermore, the crank was cross drilled from the factory to mitigate the dreaded #2 rod bearing failure. Why they stopped after 83 is a mystery. There may be more if I can recall. Some of the smart guys here will chime in and add too the list.

I'd check that water leak out pronto if i were you. If its leaking from the water pump you're looking at a load of dosh with belts and pump $$$$$

Yup, I've got a parts list almost ready to order. Water pump, belts and rollers, front engine seals, engine mounts, coolant hoses and clamps, vac lines. Will do all maintenance before driving it (I trailered it home), including all fluids - coolant, oil, and transaxle.

Shoot, this is nothing compared to a track car. Less $ than I used to spend on one race weekend.

Are you sure the 83 had a factory cross drilled crank?

Very nice example btw...

Great find! I love the black interior with tan carpeting. I'd lose the MSWs and go with Fuchs or even cookie cutters. I remember MSWs from back in the day. They were a less costly alternative to BBS web style wheels (which were available as single or 3 piece wheels).

Congrats again on a great find!!!
Best regards,
Dino

Just had another look and wow. Sport seats are a big plus in my book. gorgous car, if not fuchs, maybe a period set of BBS? I think it's worth putting some quality wheels on, and not the heavy cast boxster/996/cup....something light. I strongly reccomend a windshield sun shade. That dash will not last long in direct sunlight so try to keep it nice.

Ha it was one of our two Tawny owls.

The picture was taken in 1996 . Mrs dry roasted and I were trying to work out why Hero (owl) didn't just fly off. He definitely wasn't wearing jesses. Hero used to roost in a cat box in our flat during the day and was let out to roam the flat at night time . When he was fully fledged we built him a huge avairy. he couldn't be released back to the wild because he was already imprinted when he came to us

Awesome! Throw some Fuchs on it and it would be perfect.
