Robby, it is one thing to think about out running the cops or to dream about making them look stupid and just drive off with your superior driving skills, but quite a different mater to actually do so! <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[nono]" />

Running from Police, reguardless if they are a-holes or not, is just not smart. It's not only dangerous to innocents but no matter what you're running, there aint anything faster than a Motorola.

This is sickening to read...
Police risk their lives every day for your own good and the good of your family members. If you didn't break the law (and yes unfortunately 1 mile an hour over the limit is breaking the law) you would not be hassled by police. Grow up, especially the moron bragging about running away from the Police at 2am. I doubt completely that story is at all based in reality. Sell your Porsche, buy a honda, throw a three foot wing on the back and a type R sticker on it. You'd be more at home. And you wouldn't be giving those of us with more than 60 IQ points a bad name.

I love watching those police chase shows. It is fun to see what all of these people go through to get away from the police. Whoever that guy who hosts theWild and Scary Police Chases exaggerates everything. I have seen chases on that Fox show where he describes one outcome and then seen the same chase on another network and the outcome that is described there is completely different. I wonder if it is even legal to lie about how something really happened?

An example of how much money police departments make off of traffic officers. The Sheriff here in Greenville County has a proposal in front of the county council asking for money to get 16 addition traffic Cops. In his proposal it states that each officer would cost approx. $80,000 per year. But On average each officer writes $160,000 worth of tickets per month. You do the math.

I however do not look down on the police for doing their duty. I would not want to imagine a society without police deptartments. Getting a ticket is a small price to pay for somebody putting their lives on the line on a daily basis. And as long as the money is spent to make the town a better place to live I can play the game. If you are a smart speeder then your likelihood of getting caught can be significantly reduced.

yea i was a complete idiot for doin that. Just a reminder "WAS" I'm 20 not 17 anymore and I know better nowadays about right and wrong. I have heard some of you guys on this board bragging about racing type R integras, i believe along time ago a guy in a 968 off the rennlist and pelican board took a TypeR integra for a ride up to 130. There are many out there that break the speed limit. It's not like I was the only one. I've had my share of tickets to stop my speed cravings and the hole in my pocket proves it. Go ahead criticize me for what i did...its just old news anyways I'm an ex streetracer, nowadays if i go, i see my old friends still doing what they did back in highschool.

to Paul; i grew up, and it was not bragging. This video brought back a memory of something i wished never existed because I've dealt with the fear of police for the past 3 years. A lesson well learned believe me. And don't ever insult my IQ especially when you make yourself look like a hipocrit doing that. people say Porsche owners are smart, well they should be smart enough NEVER to trash their own people...that includes AMAF you many have targeted.

Why yes son, after searching your car inside and out with my dog I did realize that your tag lights do indeed work. My mistake, you can go on your way now.

I got both officers names and badge numbers and have writen over 20 letters to the IA division down here since this happened (3 years ago). Every time I have time I send another letter. They put ever letter I send in the officers file. Sucks for them, now thats how you handle the bad cop.

I'm against street racing, without a doubt, but let me tell you guys something. I've come from a long family line of NY State Troopers and military... According to my father (retired), those ricers are a piece of **** ...the usual thing to do (unoffical!) is to pull people over going 12 above the average speed or the posted limit- whichever is higher. Only time you get pulled over for going ONE above (not even that, like 5-6?- not sure) is during a speeding detail...And he himself says "If your doing better than 100 when he (officer) sees you, keep on going, your not gonna get caught" I assume he means if the officer is stopped...I'm not encourging anything...just felt like adding my imput!!

I agree that police put their lives on the line for us everyday, and, that this society wouldn't be a society if it weren't for police and laws. But, our laws oftentimes don't make sense, nor do the punishments for many offenses. I have known a FEW cops in my life, and most of the ones I've known have been really decent guys- not ALL, but most- but I've also met a few ******* cops- I try not to stereotype- people are people and you have good and bad in ALL groups- just want to make sure everyone knows where I stand on that...

As for Cop shows, some of the people they have to chase down- it's really sad- some of them make me sympathize completely! They almost ALWAYS make simple things worse by lying or trying to trick the officers. But many times, the cops don't have any right to do the things they do- for instance- a cop pulls you over for a broken tailight or speeding, etc and asks "Where are you going? What are you doing in this area?" You are under NO obligation to answer that- if you are a licensed driver in the US, you have the right to drive whenever & wherever you want- if you told a cop "It's really none of your business" you'd be WELL w/in your rights- then, of course, he'd try to hassle you- what if he tried to search you for drugs? It's not right- just b/c you've violated a simple traffic law, or, didn't tell him YOUR business, you are not in anyway breaking the law or giving him any reason- unfortunately, many officers will TRY to do it anyway- many will break any law they think they can get away with
IF they deem it neccessary at that time- and neccesary is whatever they FEEL at that time- that's the type of stuff that pisses me off- but would I rather our society not have cops? Hell NO! I just like the idea of having consitutional rights and not having everyone act like a bunch of pansies b/c of this 9/11 sh**! I'm not willing to give up my freedoms in some vain attempt to keep it from happening again- like Ben Franklin's quote...

Kool- yeah, that guy who hosts those shows- he's a fu**ing RIOT I saw one once where they were chasing a Vette- it passes an 18 wheeler- kind of S-turns b/t a couple, and wipes out in the dessert- they said it was doing "OVER 150MPH!" I played it in slow motion, etc, & re-watched it a few times- it MAY have been doing over 150 when they clocked it, or when they first started the chase, but, it wasn't even CLOSE to 150 when it went through the trucks and wiped out- 60mph is 88ft/sec, so 150mph is 220ft/sec- you can see how long the trucks are, and get an idea, but the guy was probably doing less than 100- it took him well over 2 seconds to get by the first one- that's not even CLOSE- they really exxagerate everything for drama. I've seen guys struggle the slightest bit while being cuffed, and the cop say later "He was really trying to hurt me- I saw a baseball bat on the front porch across the street and I just KNOW he was trying to get it to hit me w/it" BS like that- it's ridiculous sometimes.

My point? I don't know- I guess I just get a little irritated at simple speeding tickets sometimes, knowing that there are SO MANY other things that they could be concentrating on. Why waste their time? Why waste MY time? My $? It's annoying to me- makes me want to just open up and LEAVE them at all costs- you know- pull a hollywood type thing and just dissapear! Not likely though- like someone else mentioned- Motorola, helicopters, etc- all that for simple speeding? Kinda silly IMO...

I totally disagree, cops should chase people down. Someone steals a car could mean a number of different things. Kidnapping? Murder? Think about it.

Also, as for not catching the kid - it was very observant to notice that they were reusing the film, but did you think that maybe the LT1 was the only cruiser that either had a camera in it or that they had the film from? I don't doubt they caught him.

I think for the most part police officers are good folks, just like everyone here. I've known several, friends and family, so I'm slightly bias I suppose. No organization is perfect, but for the most part they do a real dirty/dangerous job and get squat for pay and don't have much general public support.

Fun clip to watch though.

I guess this falls under those rules that you shouldn't ever talk about religion or politics at work. I guess this would be considered politics and I'm sure most of us are at work reading this.

Probably better at this point to agree to disagree and let the thread die.

...Just a thought.

Interesting thread. I've seen that video before...cool stuff. Its funny this thread came up because just a few days ago I was talking with a few friends about how f'd up most cops are.

There is a stereotypical police officer that we all came up with...it all starts with a kid in high school who has little dog syndrome...always talking out of their asses, doesn't have the strength to back up their words, gets in fights, and gets the **** beat out of them often because of their attitude. After a while, they realize this doesn't work, so they start narc-ing people out to administrators, get beat up more, get more pissed, become more of a *****. They get out of high school, and they feel that they want to give it back to every kid who ever gave them ****, so they join the police force, go through training, grow a moustache, etc, with the mind set that they will bust every person who speeds, every kid who smokes pot, every underage person who drinks, etc, because they didn't have the joy of being invited to do these activities when they were younger because nobody could stand them and their attitude. Most of the cops I have come across don't care about law and order as much as they do making sure young adults don't have a good time. They jerk off thinking about chasing and shooting a fleeing pot head. I used to go to a gym that had mostly police officers as clientel, and I will tell you that there is no way that most of them weren't on the juice getting as freakishly muscular as they did. They have a sick attitude and are willing to violate other's civil rights (I have had mine violated 4 or 5 times by young pigs) because they think they are right, and when they are not, it is of no consequence because almost nobody is willing to spend thousands of dollars on a lawyer to give a cop a slap on the wrist for violating the consistution. Bascially, they show no respect to suspected law breakers, no matter how minor the infraction, but they expect absolute respect from them. I have no respect for somebody who shows me no respect, and I think this is a basic human instinct that they either don't understand or don't care about. This is what I make of most county cops I have ever had a run in with...there have been the occasional cool ones, but they are few and far between. Most state troopers seem to be all about business and have more respect for those who they bust, but most are ex-military and this could explain why I have never called a state trooper a dick, but almost every local cop I have come across I have used more colorful language to describe.

Sorry for the rant...I just really have a problem with the way that cops are trained and the fact that they exist mostly to give non-felons a hard time when they should be concentrating more on crime and less on petty stuff. Thats just my opinion anyways.

Rib's you're right but i agree like others they are doing their job. While so many are out of line sometimes I think its for the better, so that we know never to make the same mistake again. I'm sure all of us have gotten pissed one time by an ******* cop. He was merely doing his job, no matter how assinying he was acting. I'm playing Devil's Advocate since I'm basically going against what i said a year to year's ago since you've known me ribs, but the law is right.

As for the Civil rights violations i can agree with ya too! Last week I went to a Memorial about 35 miles away from my house where a bunch of streetracers and my friends were mourning where 2 young kids were killed racing on a small street with a speedlimit if only 25 mph. While over there, a cop came over and started writing EVERYONE parking tickets for being parked on the side of the road. California state law says that if parked on the road you must either have hazards on indicating you are there in t he dark or just have your car towed or fixed by the time an officer shows up (or he can call you a tow truck). This guy just pissed everyone off, and was smiling when he did it!

Words to live by brotha' Ribs- words TO live by...

If you juiced up at the gym, and gained 50lbs of muscle, would your name still be Ribs? Or would we call you Lats or Pecs or something? I wish I were good at Photoshop- I could find one of your old pics and put your head on that guy Ronnie Coleman's body (to lighten this thread up)- HE's the cop from
Texas who's won the last 5 or 6 Mr O's (since Dorian Yates retired) who has "NEVER" used drugs to enhance his physique! Anyway....

Raceit-
I didn't mean to rag you- I just thought your "sniper" comment could have been left out- I say that b/c you never know what REALLY started many of the chases- to say they should just shoot you for running- well, there ARE some instances where I would probably agree, but I just mentioned it b/c I thought it a little extreme- I didn't think you really meant it literally though. In any case- bygones...
