Post cant get the M030 19mm rear sway bar in!

i took the old one out and am now trying to put the 19 mm in. and no go, after a lot of pushing....i got both sides on the 2nd hole but NO way am i going to get the bushing clamps on, it seems like the exhaust is in the way and also the rear control arms....the car is on jacks, should it be on ramps?will it make a difference?

what i'm worried about right now is that i think the bar is under pressure in the middle and i think it might be slightly bent because it took sooo much effort to get the bolts in....what should i do?

You should be able to get the bar in with the car up on jack stands (suspension unloaded)....but to install the bar and the rubber bushings unloaded (unstressed), you want the suspension to be loaded (on ramps)..

so give that a shot...

No clue as to your interference problem, but when you solve it, you'll likely find that the bolts seem too short for fastening the saddles over the bushings on the two inner (chassis) mounts. Start the upper bolt about two turns with the saddle in place; then use vice-grips to pull the lower end of the saddle in to where you can start the lower bolt thru it.

Jim, once wasted half an hour figuring this out.... <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" /> <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" /> <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />
