stock mirror motor in aero mirrors
Who has used their stock electrical mirror motor in manual aero mirrors?
I'm trying to find the best and cheapest way to do the swap.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
I've read the archives but am looking for something more specific.
TIA,
Daniel

I've already read his procedure. Outstanding it is. I just wantedto clarify that the stock mirror motor can be used in the manual aero mirror body.
I'd like to save $$$ by buying the manual aero mirrors and put in the stock motor.
Thanx for the reply.

</strong><hr></blockquote>I don't know if that will work. I would be very surprised if the mounting brackets, etc. are the same. Most of the parts in the aero mirror upgrade kit are 964 part numbers from the 911 C2.

Yes, they will work, BUT - you will need to make some minor modifications. The motors are different, but they can be modified.
The rear plate on the 968 motor transmission is different - it has two raised plastic "lips" that alter the way the motor sits in the reinforcement plate. To overcome the difference you will need to purchase or find two small plastic washers to go behind each motor. The washers are about a sixteenth of an inch tall and will go directly behind the two screws which are side by side. You'll also need to purchase the longer screws for the motor from Porsche. Although I beleive you could get by with just the longer screws, in my opinion the motors require the washers to allow the mirror glass to have full motion.

Here are some shots which will help illustrate the difference...
968 vs. 944 Mirror Motor Transmission Screws - The long screws are from the 968.
This is the bottom of the 968 Mirror Motor Transmission. The 944 motor is flat.

The electric motors are the 928 parts (made in the Netherlands)same on both 944 and 968.As Keith wrote you will need plastic washers and 968 screws.Otherwise it's the direct fit.
