Post **HLP: Final Clutch Diagnosis.

hey guys...

Car: 1987 Porsche 944 N/A, 102K miles.

Mantainence: Clutch replaced at 60K miles, no history regarding any clutch related maintanence is availabe.

Problem: Car seems like it is slipping comming into gear. Clutch pedal seems soft and squishy. I can also see a fluid leak from the bell housing that is leaking down onto the oil fins in front of the bell housing. Also, the engagement point or friction point of the clutch seems to be towards the end of the pedal travel, ie: its engaging right before I let off the pedal. Fluid levels in the resiviour are fine. Note: im assuing the resivour is the little plastic thing with the little rubber button on top.

Please: sorry my description is lame, but I have a choice to bring the car to a dealer or try to replace the master cylinder myself. Diagnosis?

TIA
-matt

Matt -

If you see fluid, you have a leak somewhere.

My guess is that the line from the master cyl to the slave has a SMALL hole, or the slave cyl is dying.

HTH!
