Default Installing an S2 engine in an 8V 944 body are ther any issues?

In a somewhat complicated deal, I acquired a wrecked 944 16V race car with a 3.0L S2 Engine. The donor car is a 944S, not an S2.

I have an 86 944 with a good body and was interested in transplanting the engine, transmission, cage etc. to build a 944 SuperCup car.

I have all the wiring, ecu, instuments etc. It seems as if it should be a bolt in, but the devil is usually in the details. Can anyone tell me if there are any issues with this installation.

Another option would be to install it in late 951 I own.

The entire S2 drive train (engine, torque tube and transmission) should bolt in without issue.

That's encouraging. Is there any reason to swap the torque tube?

Also the left aluminum arch that goes from the block to the motor mount is broken. Does anyone know if it will interchange with the 8V?

The drivers side motor strut is interchangeable between N/A engines. Actually, both of them are.
The torque tube should work as well. To the best of my knowledge, only the 968 TT has different dimensions.

Pretty much a direct bolt in, there may be a few issues with the electrical, that was the hardest part for me.

Only differanse in Torque tube is that some have one more roller inside. And if you got it all out and have alittle ekstra cash I would talk to one of the torque tube overhaulers on rennlist. Don't remember his name, but he got a sick tool and then you will be sure its not making any rattle noises like some old one do.. Cus of a bad bearing.

One minor issue is air intake -- cone filter is the usual solution, but there was a report of someone stuffing an S2 air box under a 931 vented nose.

For electricals, I keep this page bookmarked: http://members.rennlist.com/tholyoak...wap_wiring.htm

If you are using an early 8V the computer is under the dash not the passenger footwell so you'll have some extra wire. Also with the early car the wells behind the firewall drain out of these tubes in the firewall - may not clear the engine so you have to grind them off flush. Other than that - easy swap - an "S" airbox may fit for you.

Thanks for all the support. It is a late body so the ecu should be in the footwell. I will probably use the torque tube from the wrecked car since it has fewer miles than the "new" car. The wrecked car has a cone filter and piping that allows cool air into it.
