Default Interior Noise Reduction

I know there are a few good threads out there on adding sound reduction insulation to improve the cabin 'serenity factor' but I can't seem to find the right key words to locate them in a search. Would the authors please help?

I added/replaced some in mine. The tricky part is getting it up under the dash, a heat gun really helps lay it down, but be sure to wear some insulating gloves.

get jiggy in the rear hatch area/under the rear seat with a sprayable sound deadener. I find that a lot of the noise comes from here. I pulled my rear seat for a form fitted subwoofer box and i did end up with some more road noise i should do something about it, but i don't want the weight.

i left the rear seat bottom in place and built a panel to go over it for my 6x9s, the seats are good insulation and only weigh like 2 lb.

Here's mine:

And here's Fergus':

I would add, having just done it all again, that it is really worth pulling the back seats and dampening the area over the transmission well. It made quite a big difference, even in a car with no interior in it!

I suggest you DO IT! I followed PontiFlex and Fergus' DIYs for my mothers 86 N/A and it made quite the difference. I am going to do it to my 951 this summer..

I'll take some new pictures of the job I've just done on my new car soon. Maybe I'll update that old thread.

Pontifex4, please do. Mine is a daily driver in the non-snow months and the road noise is getting to me...
