I did this last year and I think I used some PVC plastic pipe to push the seal in with the crank bolt. Seems like it worked ok but not as nice as the tool you made.
I couldn't get the drive sleeve out easily so I didn't change the o-ring. Now it's still leaking so I may have to go back in. I guess the best thing to do is get a new drive sleeve first so if the old one gets damaged during removal you don't have to stop and wait for parts to put it back together.
Does the main seal just seal around the outside of the drive sleave and the o-ring seals the inside? So it sorta makes sense that it would still leak after changing just the main seal?
