Default Need opinions on AC delete bracket options

Hey guys, I'm putting together a weekend track car and am looking for some opinions. I'm not new to performance mods, but 944's are certainly uncharted territory for me.

I was hoping I could get some opinions on AC delete kits as it seems there are quite a few out there.

I've narrowed it down to these:

OEM Porsche version: can't go wrong, right? although I've heard it's heavy. No clue what the actual weight is though. Anyone?
http://www.paragon-products.com/prod...acdel.kit2.htm

Lindsey Racing version: Seems a lot of guys are using this, but runs nearly $190 with a belt. Looks like it's the most expensive out there.

Fast Guys version: Looks like a light piece, but can't really find any info on it other than there site. Also on the pricey side. Anyone use this?

Ebay version: Looks really heavy but dirt cheap

So I guess I'm just looking to get some opinions from some of the guys that might know better. Also, I was wondering if there are any considerations I should look out for when using one of these kits on a turbo car. Wasn't sure if I'd run into clearance issues with IC piping etc. Thanks!

I used the ebay version, and I don't think that it's really all that heavy.

Not that I won't soon regret not having AC...

Yeah, I'm looking forward to having a track car, but not really too excited about the fact that it'll see most of its use in the hot summer months.

I'd go for the cheapest priced one. even if it were a little heavy, it would be just as easy to unbolt something else and save the weight. cash is better in the pocket then in the mail ;p

I plan to make my own soon as I can get a trace(pattern) of someone's. I already have a plate of aluminum and all, just need a template. course it will take me hours to mill vs spending 100 bucks but the piece of aluminum cost me 10 bucks and my time is virtually free :O

I have used a factory one for just about 10 years now. Never any issues. It works and I have to ballast my car to make 2600lbs with driver so it is no big deal.

The eBay version is very light and works great, even if its not as pretty as the others.

Hey Krystar,
That super cheap version works spot on. I bought the shorty belt and made a bracket and used it all last summer. Only reason I will go to a complete delete bracket is if I make the bracket myself, but really i have no need to other then appearance.

Yeah, I made my own bracket and it is sooo easy. Anyone who pays $190 for an a/c delete bracket for a track car has been huffing too much glue. A couple of tips if you use the article from 944spec as your guide are posted on my blog.

Wow, I didn't expect so many replies. Thanks guys! That home made bracket looks interesting. I'll have to think about this a bit. I'd like to avoid anything that looks cheap or crude, even if that means spending a few bucks on a nicer bracket. hmmm
