Small block Ford in the 944?

Some truck engines are iron block, all are made to put down torque at lower RPM like trucks need. 285 HP is typical for the LM7. They aren't exactly "bad" but they're NOT a high performance engine. Figure on a cam change, maybe even a set of valve springs, to wake one up, plus a different ECU. But they are dirt cheap, I've heard $500 for a boneyard longblock 5.3L iron block/aluminum head piece (late 90's). For the extra money, an LSx is a better deal $/HP.

I am not sure what you guys are looking at but a Ford 302- 5.0 is very cheap and have you been to the drag strips? 347 SBF are in about everything out here. Placing a 302 in a 944 would be a good fit. LS too expensive too big and way over rated.
And besides if its been done with a SBC …who cares I don’t want to be like all the other sheeple
I put a 302 in my 89 S10 and it was so much easier than I thought. It has more room then my buddies 91 S10 and a 350. I am considering doing the 302 in my 944 because Im getting tired of the added expense of the 2.5 the only thing I am looking for now is how to adapt the SBF to the Porsche drive system.
I guess when I get to Ill post pictures, when I did the S10 and the SBF 302 everything I needed I found in the junk yard I plan on doing the same with this.
