Hey, thanks for the kind words everybody! (Actually, one guy PM'd me that it made him nauseous-- lol-- I expected it to be a bit more polarizing)

Yeah, my wife and I were debating adding more stripes... I figured we could always add more later. What you see there took us about 3 hours working together.

It's kind of hard to just scale up a guitar (wider stripes or more stripes? nothing on the car really replicates the fretboard or pickups; how do I avoid the numbers?, etc). I guess I just did my best to capture the idea... maybe I'll add more stripes later!

Krystar: yeah I think I could have managed a much better finish... I used 400, 800, and then polish and wax. It is a track car, after all.
CPR & VT951: I'm in Hooville! Go Hokies! (Can anyone tell I'm kind of a contrarian)

Here's the image I used while laying out the stripes:

Well, soccer season finally ended, which gave me my first free weekend in a long time. So, I finally got a chance to finish off my painting project by working on the wheels. Took about 10 hours of mostly cleaning and masking.

Enjoy!

i think the stripes could just be wider, but it already looks a helluva lot like the album cover. good idea with the paint!

my best friend is a Van Halen fanatic. which includes being able to play every one of Eddie's guitar licks perfectly, as he's a virtuoso guitar player.... for years he was crazy about Valerie Bertinelli, too and had a comedy radio spot on the Shark Man radio show on Z-Rock in Austin, back in the 1990's, called "the Valerie Bertinelli Club".... one day i tell him, "hey, i like the Panama video cuz it's got Valerie Bertinelli in it..." so he says to me, "naww, she's not in any van halen videos." to which i say, "yeah she makes a cameo in Panama...." so for years we argue about whether or not she's in the video, which of course, we all know that she is.... finally my friend sees the video on youtube and tells me, "wtf, wow !" lol.
