Installing right side net
I'm installing a right side net. Thought I'd share some pictures.
Jerome951 did this first and gave me some pointers...
First I made a hole behind the fresh air blower under the hood (luckily I had a drill extension that I could use with a step drill bit (step drills are great - and I recommend everyone get a set))
Now, one of the challenges, was to cut away part of the heater/defroster air box so I could get to the hole I just made in the firewall. Using a router type bit in my drill helped me cut enough of an opening:
Then I was able to wiggle the eye bolt in (I'd already threaded the webbing through it) and get a fender washer and nut on the back side:
And, finally, I took the vanes out of the right side of the vent and put the dash back together:
The ratchet will be used to tension the net.

The right-side net will protect me (mostly my head) in the event of a right side impact. It will also help support the back of the seat, which will help preventing it from breaking in a rear impact.
It's a track thing.
