Default Is this a good price for a '90 s2?

You may remember I had the 84 944 with the transmission problems. I'm looking to get a new car. I'm very interested in a private seller's 1990 944 s2 with 110,000 miles on it. It comes with 2 sets of wheels and a 5 point harness system with a sparco seat aas well as the original drivers seats. It seems I will be able to resell the entire system for around $500.

"non smoker, always garaged,Sparco driver's seat, incuding original leather driver's seat Teamtech 5pt. harnesses. B-K Harness bar. B-K fire extinguisher mount. Adjustable camber plates B-K strut tower brace. Bilstein sport shocks & struts, H&R front springs MO30 Anti-sway bars, Stainless Steel Brake lines,Recent A/C charge, sirius raidio ready, new fuel pump, new water pump 90k service complete. New high flow muffler / cat bypass test pipe"

He's asking 11,500 but will sell it to me for $9500. I think I'll pick it up this weekend unless you guys lead me otherwise.

If your gunna track it i think thats a decent deal. Obviously having the harness bar/belts, suspension, and all the service is up to date that should save you a lot in the long run. Without a picture its hard to say if its nice enough for 9,500...but i would say buy it! and maybe i'll see you at limerock!?

Based on My knowledge it looks like a fair price for the car. Just make sure to get a ppi done and such.

Does anyone know anything about that anti-sub belt on the passenger side in the last picture? Is that legal?

At that price with all the goodies on it only one word (BUY) very nice car, you can see by the pics that the car has been well taken car off.Don't forget that decent shape 944S2 are harder to come by then 951&968, but like mention above make sure you get yourselve a PPI before handing down your money. It will be a shame to turn this car in a track one.Good luck with the deals let's use know how it turn out.

FYI i sold my red 90 S2 with full service records, a new clutch, recent belts, no dash cracks, 72k miles and two sets of tires for 7500 in november of 08.

I couldnt find a buyer for more. YMMV.

the harness on the passenger seat is illegal from head to crotch.

I used the regular belt when I went for a ride with him, I think he was just showing he has the belts. I talked him down from 11500. What is a PPI?

The car looks nice......but not sure on the price since I haven't kept up on the values of these. However, if you might be interested in a fixer, take a look at this one. I have no affiliation.

so StrekStrekStrekStrekturds, I made him an offer on friday, and he said there was a guy coming to look at it on saturday whom he planned before I ever contacted him, and obviously the guy bought it. I literally feel like I could never want a particular 944 more than this one. I'm gonna keep saving for a little bit and then find myself another pristine s2. If I find out any of u jerks from NY came down and bought the car I was in love with from under my nose... well I'll be upset :P

im sorry but that passanger sub belt was really ghetto and anyone who would do that to their car makes me wonder what other corners they cut. I know its more money but you might wanna consider buying a non-running 944 and doing all the work yourself. It's gunna cost more than buying an already built one but at least you'll know whats been done to it. If you want to buy an already built one which is fine, just try to find a known owner within PCA who you can trust set the car up properly..

If you do PCA track days, you'll need to either upgrade the passenger seat to a legit 5 point harness (which would require a new seat) or downgrade your own seat. Otherwise, I think it's a nice car at and the price would be fair if it has no major squawks in a pre-purchase inspection (PPI).

I have no problem with a car like this being a "track car" provided that you are using the term to refer to a dual-purpose street/track car. If you're going to gut it out, put in a cage, pull out the A/C, radio, etc. then it's probably too nice a car for that. I think folks assume that all "track cars" are "race cars."
