My g-Force Sports are just about shot. So I'm looking for replacements.
The worn tires are 225/50R15. I am looking at other options this time around. I have a set of 225/50R15 Toyo R1As for track duty and 195/65R15 Vredestein Nord Tracs for winter use.
Assuming 225/60R15 will fit without clearance issues (should - they're only 0.5 inches larger in diameter than the original equipment 215/60R15s), I am strongly considering them.
These would be for street use only. I anticipate slightly better fuel economy while giving up a small amount in the handling department.
So - is anyone else using this size tire? Care to comment?

Scott - My blizzaks are 225/60/16's, but the 968 has the later offsets. If I recall correctly, the tires that were on the '84 when I bought it had an oscenely large aspect ratio. They may very well have been 225/60/15's. I remember a night and day difference when I put those RA1's on for the first time - it's like the car had 20 more HP. There was never any issue with clerances or rubbing.

I am running BFG T/A in 225/60-15. My use is 100% street and in all weather (no snow to speak of). I have had these on two N/A cars and like them, pretty cheap, quiet, and I like that they fill out the wheel wells. No scraping on fender lips or liners. Traction is very good in any street use. Turns right around 2900 at 75 mph as I recall.

John - the Blizzaks are definitely big on your car. The extra inch on the rim diameter makes a big difference.
You probably did have 225/60R15 on your 84. I think that is the size that were originally on my car when I bought it and I think that may be the same size Jen has on her car.
I'm not worried about the perception of more power for the street. Good traction and good wear are more important. Getting a little better fuel economy isn't a bad thing either. Still have the Toyos you gave me for the track.![Cheers](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/beerchug.gif)
So when are you coming home, again?

Ross - thanks for posting the pic - that helps a lot.
Roman - we're taking about 15" rims here. If we were talking about 16" rims - there wouldn't be any question. I'd be going with 225/50R16 tires all around.
So are there rubbing issues - in front - with 225/60R15s? (note 15" rims not 16")

AHAHAH I knew it
I had the same thing for tires 225/50/16 front and 225/60/16 back, and it wasn't bad at all
but, next - 225/50/16 front and 245/45/16 rear
maybe even V700's (I think they still make them) - or Toyo's
edit:
yeah I know you are talking 15's here, thats still a lot of sidewall on the front, maybe you will get lucky? if your car is lowered then it will most likely rub; there was a NOTICIBLE difference between tires mounted on the wheels when they were side by side, so I'd be careful; you can pick up a cheap junk tires and test fit first just to be sure (they would probably run $50/set)

No need to find any cheap tires for the fit up. I'm fairly certain my car had 225/60R15 when I bought it. And I'm also fairly certain my girlfriend's car has that size on it now. Just need to be in the same place with her car to confirm.
My car has not been lowered. Not good for RallyCross...

Yep - If I had 16 x 7 and 16 x 8s - that's the combination I would run as well. Unfortunately - I have only 15 x 7s at my disposal (4 sets - but still all 15 x 7).

it would rub on harder corners.
i put stiffer springs (albeit shorter ones) to try to stop body roll, i assumed the stock springs were sagging...they still rubbed. so i got 50s.

While 50's aren't super thin, I really like the taller profile for street use, where potholes threaten wheel damage with (say) 40-series.
