Post '89 951 vs. '88 911 Cabrio ( My Older Brothers Newly Purchased 911)... UPDATE!!!!!!!!

Yeah I know that this is kids stuff, but I'm wanting to know what kind of HP he is packing. I'm not up on the 0-60 stuff for his or my car. I just know that mine is a very fast car even if it is all stock.

As all brothers due, we have a little older brother vs. little brother sibling rivalry going on. He's the one who use to let me sneek and watch Risky Business with him, hence his love for Porsche's (as a result of the movie) rubbed off on me.

Anyway, we rarely see each other eventhough we live only about 45 mins apart (long story... don't have time for it on this forum), but I know eventually we'll both end up at my parent's house driving our cars some weekend and the subject will undoubtably come up "who's car is the fastest?"

I would like to know we're I stand vs. his car. I assume that I'm automatically up on him d/t the fact that mine is a turbo. Could I get a Rennlister's help with some FACTUAL numbers that I can through out when the occasion arises, so I don't sound stupid (the thing all little brothers are scared of sounding like infront of their big brothers).

Thanks... not tring to have little brother syndrome

you should spank him....if you have a turbo S, i think. Not totally sure about the 911 and the numbers but it might have a weight advantage over you but i dont think it would be able to run 13s like your car does, but dont do standing starts if you race, he'll burn his clutch and you'll mess up you cv joints, start at like 15-25mph....someone out here should have a better idea with more numbers to back it up. good luck

if you beat him you can say that he just got spanked by a not "real" porsche

I read a review for the 83 911 SC Cabrio that stated that the car was only good for 125 MPH all out b/c of drag...

UPDATE...

Well it happened. My brother and I met up at mom's house today for my neice's graduation party (she home school's). As usual, we had the usual lack of communication between us until he said, "what do you think of my new Porsche"? My reply was, "nice color combo (guards red/blk leather)". He said want to go for a spin, I said sure. He let me drive it around the lake where my parents have there home.

All I can say is, there doesn't seem to be that much of a competition. I was NOT impressed at all with the pull of his 911. He even told me to "get on it and see what she'll do". Even after that, I wasn't impressed. It's an '88 911 Cabrio with a tail, so of course it's a beautiful car and all but no challenge to my stock '89 944 turbo.

I know there are you 911 guys that are out there thinking "it's a convertible, it's not suppose to be a track car (or something like that)", but this wouldn't have been such a big deal if it wasn't for that sibling rivalry that we have going on and the fact that he told our oldest brother that he could run circles around me.

At this point I have to end this all and agree with my brother, that he could run circles around me... but only if I was standing still.

All in all, I'm glad I bought my car instead of a 911 that I was looking at. I do have to say that his car is down right beautiful and a looker also and I would buy one anyway. I guess I'll have to wait until I get out of school for that purchase (definately with a turbo though).
