Exactly, then adding a bigger turbo (from a faster car) to a 951 would be rice as well. Even though it's not cosmetic it's rice because it's not oem.

A valence increases weight.

Regardless of whether or not it fits into your personal definition of rice, I'll reiterate my dissenting opinion as requested by the original poster: I don't like the rear valence.

If a 944 has 51/49 weight distribution then adding a rear valance will bring it closer to 50/50.

Maybe I'll consider one, thanks.

Okay all you 951 owners, you heard it here. Schlag says your rear valance adds weight and since you don't all drive 150 MPH daily you should remove your rear valence since it's only reducing drag by .00000001.

When you do? Send it over to me. It makes my little NA look more finished, my car is pretty slow already but I doubt this added weight will make my 0-60 time rise from 8.3 to 8.4 seconds. Since it was designed for the EXACT same body that you have, it's hardly an egregious violation of the "anti-rice" rules of this board - not any more so that the rear light panels, all red tailights, 968 spoilers, mirrors, etc. Somehow, I'll still be able to sleep with it on there!

I wouldn't advise removing it, but I wouldn't advise going out of your way to add one either. Just a though.

The rear valance also aids gearbox cooling according to the following book- Original Porsche 924,944,968 by Peter Morgan. Just right for those n/a boxes without the oil cooler!

Would it be rice to put some "type r" stuff on a regular honda?

If it's just the stickers, the answer has to be yes, but what about other parts?

Other than that, I hate to see the NA rear ruined

More so if the auto manufacturer warns against it but you think it's a worthwhile change in spite of that.

The air under the car passed under a different nose/spoiler on it's way there, so the only other part of the body that matters in this case is not the same.
I'm not saying that it would or wouldn't make a difference but your reasoning is flawed.

Actually, it sounds like you have made up your mind, you don't need opinions you know you want it, now go get it!

Someday I want to put the rear valance on my "S" along with cup wheels and a front lip. This kinda stuff is not "rice", just a few cosmetic upgrades that update the look of an already beautiful car.

if all this is rice, then I'm all for some rice. we all need a little carbohydrates in our diet. I personally for anything that makes are cars perform a little better and improve the looks in a classy way, not crappy rice way. if this is rice, so what. so long as it isn't bad, crappy, rice who cares, esp when the parts are made by Porsche or a porsche design. just bcs my car made 140hp in 86, doesn't mean that I'm going to keep it totally factory. if someone comes out with a product that is better than what porsche put on my car, I'm all for it.

I say add the 944 turbo valence to your NA. I would do the same if I had the money, I'm personally tried of looking at my spare tire.

Yo Godzilla, kick it over again boyeee
Yo, VTEC, lets kick it,
Rice Rice Baby,
Rice Rice Baby...

Alright stop
Collaborate and listen
Rice is back with a brand new invention
Chopped springs,
Make me hug the road tightly
Coffee can exhaust tip, flowin loud nightly
Will it ever stop, yo, I don't know
Flip on my neon, and I glow
To the extreme my car looks like a candle
And the paint job looks like it was done by a vandal

Dance, I got a speaker that booms
This ain't a car, it's a rolling sound room
Deadly, listen to the melody
If it was louder, bet it'd be a felony
Love it or leave it, no gain that way
Type-R stickers say "I'll lose ya anyday"
If there was a problem, yo I'd solve it
Check out my rims while my front drive revolves it

Rice Rice Baby
Rice Rice Baby
Rice Rice Baby
Rice Rice Baby

Now my suspension is jumpin
My bumper drags the ground, but who cares I'm thumpin'
Quick to the point, to the point no fakin'
Cookin mopeds like a pound of bacon
Burnin 'em, cause I'm quick and nimble
Can't fase me, and my VTEC symbol
Line em up, my rides on the bottle
So I can run with the V8 throttle

Rollin' in my 2 point 0
It runs low 18's yo, that ain't slow
The girlies on stand by, won't even say "Hi"
Did ya stop?
No, I just flew by
Kept on, pursuing to the next block
I bust a left, and I'm headin to the next stop
The block was dead, yo, so I continued to A-1-A, Barrett Parkway

Girls looked hot wearing less than bikinis
Saw a few chumps drivin' stock Lamborghinis
Jealous, cause I'm out drivin' mine
Ready to race 'cuz my Nittos lookin fine
My exhaust buzzes, like a swarm of bees
Thats ok, sounds like performance to me

Burnouts ranged out like a bell
I looked to the side--
All I heard was tires
Burning on the concrete real fast
Hit the nitrous, slammed on the gas
Bumper to bumper that's the way I race
I'm trying to get around this smokin hatchback
Police on the scene
You know what I mean
They passed me up, confronted all the Mustangs

If there was a problem yo I'd solve it
Check out my rims while the front drive revolves it

Rice Rice Baby
Rice Rice Baby
Rice Rice Baby
Rice Rice Baby

Take heed, cause I'm a Honda poet
Akimoto's on the scene just in case you didn't know it
My exhaust tip, that created all that bass sound
Rumbles enough to put holes in the ground
My ride's style is lookin so reeeeeeeeeeeeeal
With an exhaust note that ya can feeeeeeeeeeeel
A 4 foot spoiler, it's a hell of a concept
My ride is hype, and you wanna step With This.
In my rearview mirror you'll faaaaade
Slice like a Ginsu sounds like a Kitchen-Aid
So fast, that all V8's say "DAMN!",
"If rice was a drug, I'd sell it by the gram"
Keep my composure when the front tire breaks loose
Magnetized by the kick of the 30 horse juice
If there was a problem, yo I'd solve it
Check out my rims while the front drive revolves it

Rice Rice Baby
Rice Rice Baby
Rice Rice Baby
Rice Rice Baby
Yo man, let's get a beer
Werd to your G-Tech
Rice Rice Baby, too low, too low
Rice Rice Baby, too low, too low

RICE???? It was a dealer option for the N/A. I have seen the dealer book from the late 80s,87 IIRC I have one on my N/A, I guess the turbo engine and transmission swap is rice then too. Sorry guys, I'm a ricer. Atleast I won't have more stickers than mods, like most ricers.
