Default What's up with my hood badge?

People have been telling me that there are nuts that hold the crest on. I've never seen these nuts? I've pull on off a 1980 931, my 924S, and my 944S. All I had to do was take a thin flat blade and just pry them off. Am I missing something here....? My whole front end just got repainted and I haven't put the badge on yet. So I'd rather not have to take the nose panel off and risk damaging it to put the crest on. To more of my point... where is the best place to buy one? I've just seen eBay really. Thanks for any help!

I think maybe the later models only came with the nuts on the back of the badge. Either that or they just get loose and fall off or people don't put them back on after so many decades. I have 2 86 cars, one had nuts on the back and one didn't. The nuts aren't really threaded either, they just turn once or something and that's all.

theyre like rubber button things...you just pry up in the middle of the sides of the badge carefully and it comes out..

Well not always.... some of them actually have nuts on the back of the 2 posts... so be careful prying!

On my car there are nuts holding on the crest. The hood has a double wall which expands as it surrounds the crest location. I have to use a deep socket to connect with the nuts and remove them. I am not sure about earlier models though.

Mine is held on by two little plastic grommets that go into the holes on the nose panel first followed by the emblem.

Most have the nuts. they are thin with a lump of soft rubber(dum -dum) inside them. I would discourage just prying on the badge. Try to get underneith and turn the nuts loose.

You can buy a new Porsche badge and rubber grommet from 944online or Pelican Parts.com.

early cars dont have nuts because the nose panel is welding on so thats why there are rubber thingys on the badge to like wedge its self but then the came with nut tip clips for the 85.5 cars
