Relocating the heater control valve
Engine finally went back in today (from the top - I definately think this is the better way). A couple of minor mods along the way. First, relocating the heater control valve (one hose not yet connected). Has anyone else ever tried this location?
And second, a peek at my fabricated heat shield (not sure that is the right terminology).

Sharky... 2 sheets of aluminum flashing with aluminum screen and a few paper towels sandwiched in between. I know that sounds kinda low-tech but was somewhat similar to what the Germans used. Had to do somthing the old one was full of oil.
I'm happy with it, until someone tells me I coulda bought one for 8$. ;]

I wrapped my headers and am going with no shield. Should be fine, but if you do not wrap them, that shield will be fine. Great pics! Looks familiar. I would love to see more.
I would not locate the valve there. Once you get the master cylinder in there, there might be horrible access to it in the event you need to change it out. Set the booster in place and see how it is to get to.
On a 951, there's no way.
