We just picked up a 87 944na for $2800. 102,000k. new clutch and new tires within the last 2 years. red with perfect black interior. Paint has been some ****ty touch up but it looks good on the street. Good cars are out there for less than 3K and it will be a daily driver for us this summer. I just do not think you would ever find a mustang 5.0 in the same condition for under 6K. 944 is the best classic car deal available right now.

Ok here is something to think about. If you were given any of the 10 cars listed or a 944/924S to have as a collector car what would it be? Now don't answer so quickly. What if the 944/924S was HEAVLY modified with stuff like paited interior parts, cheap aftermarket seats, cheap rims, and modified bumpers, vented hood, it also needed stuff like a clutch, waterpump, and a new timing belt, etc.... etc..... LIKE MOST 944's out there. My point is that a car needs to be mechanically clean and ORIGINAL or upgraded with the whole intent of not changing the cars true nature of what the car was or looked like back in its glory day. Then the car will be desirable to the next buyer and become a collector.

i'm amazed at the accuracy of this cnn opinion concerning the nine-four-four. AMAZED.

some guys have killer cars simply with a few trips to the used parts yard and Pelican on speed dial...

some other guys are part-out champions.

i've got almost $ 40 k in my car with no end in sight - and i'm a very-happy 968 owner.

i am certain the day is coming when you can't easily find a manual 968 for sale anywhere... a car everyone should have on their list.

btw, what older high-performance cars are any different ?

Sorry for the confusion. I updated my original post to better explain the photo.
