Default CNN Money...No love for the 944

http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2010/...ars/index.html

Not that I care what they think, but thought I would share. A few model years of the 944 can be considered "collectible" (i.e. 25 years).

I guess this means our cars aren't cheap enough, right?

Update:
Okay, thought I would have some fun with PhotoShop...
Note, the photo below is not from the actual cnn article, but from my imagination in case anyone is confused

I agree - the 944 should be in that list.

It's interesting that between me and 2 other close friends, we've owned the majority of that list!

The Mustang 5.0 is destined to be worthless. It's one of those cars that was a breakout from the Jimmy Carter doldrums, but it was soon surpassed in every way. There are minivans sold today that can out-accelerate and out-handle that 5.0 Mustang.

I think the last Thunderbird will be collectible. It was a clean, retro design, a two-seat convertible, and has a nice European V8 engine.

Having bought 2 944s for under 5K, I believe their point was you can have a decent, driveable car for under 5K... 944s can be had for their price range, but WILL need work to be usable and safe on surface streets... but then that is just my oppinion...

A 944 may be dirt cheap at first but we all know how the parts go.. Or god forbid you actually have a mechanic work on yours.

Interesting, I have both my 86 944 and a '94 Mustang GT (5.0). I don't know what Mustangs you've driven or owned, but with minor tweaks, the SN95 Mustangs are not to be trifled with, Fox-bodies shown in the article (<93) only slightly less so. It is not an easy choice which one to drive at any given time. Neither car is fast by modern standards, both are good-looking IMO, both have excellent aftermarket support. The only real difference is, the Mustang never breaks.....

I can't believe there are more than a couple dozen ****fires still on the road, what a miserable piece of crap those were!

Yeah I know what that's like; on the other hand, what would happen to a 944 if you sidestepped the clutch at 5,000 RPM with sticky tires, several times a night??!!
