Yup..which is also why it's just as hard to get more power out of..
Anyway minor mods is all that's on it:

-Transaxle from '86 Turbo w/Cooler (PO)
-968 M030 sway bars front and rear ($340)
-custom K&N intake setup (filter +$1.50 worth of PVC)
-Stainless brake lines (forget, have to look it up)
-996 17" Twist wheels w/Bridgestone S-03's ($1050 wheels +$850 rubber)
-Stainless 944S2 door sill plates ($70)
-Momo Combat shifter **** ($60)
-Alpine stereo w/12 disc changer(PO $635)

Can't think of anything else major..might be adding the computer chip soon.

Sure...

It would be 3 or more inches, but my driveway does not permit. Works great at keeping cones from going under the car... oops, am I not supposed to hit them.

It's black ABS plastic cut from sheets secured from Boeing surplus (very cool place). Uses aluminum screws with shaft nuts to secure. Very ghetto - not for cars concerned with looks. Most of the folks around here use a Lexan lower spoiler painted to match the car color (paint inside, prevents chipping). I break it too often to spend so much time, money, and effort.

How can you tell a true autocrosser at driver's education events? He takes out the track-out cones and worries only about that damn 2-second penalty.

How are the 400# springs controlled by the Koni's. Can the koni yellows still keep up.

Heard a friend say the Koni's were maxed out with 450's... Thinking about these (400,450,500) for my 944-spec Race car and of course the rear bars (30 to 33mm) to match.

Thanks

They've been perfect for me - but, you're correct... 400-450# front spring is the most you want to go before a custom valve setup is recommended. Alternatively, the custom valved M030 units we do are good for up 600-650#. Anything higher, or other special requirements and you're looking at custom 28-series racing units.

400 with 30, or 450 with 31 seem to be the popular choice. My car's pretty light, so I'm sticking with my setup for a while. With a full interior, and no other attempts at lightening, I'd opt for the extra 50# and 1mm.

Wow This board works fast!

Thanks Skip <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" />

I am think about these for my 944 Spec car. I am thinking the weight will be down in the 2450 lbs range. Figured I can't go too stiff on a race car, at least in these spring ranges (1000# is another mater). Figure the limit will be the koni's and the $$$ it takes to get them. Still not sure EXACTLY what I want to go with, but this is great bit of information.

I put a cool "Porsche Racing" decal across the windshield of mine. Barely street legal after that

I'm sure a few people are scratching their heads at your comment, but that's gotta be one of the funnier things I've read on rennlist. You slay me.

No pics yet, some of those parts I am put in right now. I believe that I am about half way in terms of the mods I want on that car. I am not so worried on weight as this is purely a street car.
