Default Talk about off Topic

I called up a certain place in Cleveland Georgia to check and see if they had some parts I was looking for... Now this was at 5:30 est, and after just a few minutes of talking to the guy he comes out with... "You are wasting my time, when I could be selling a 5k motor or something".

Too top if off he had no clue was a 944 Celebration Edition was.. He was like well I have an 86 Turbo blah blah. So, at this point I was pissed and told him well I have an 88 Turbo and I am restoring the Celebration. And you go ahead and sell that 5k motor, I will get my items elsewhere.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from the place in Cleveland Georgia, if you are looking for people who know what they are talking about.

sorry had to vent.. what crappy service. He had not idea that I was looking for 2k more in parts. I would rather spend more now than go back there.

Real classy place. With so many good sellers out there it's easier to avoid the bad ones.

I like pelicanparts.com, paragon-products.com, and allzim.com (in no particular order, depending on what I'm buying.) All have excellent product knowledge and sales support in my experience. Good prices too.

I've consistently heard fairly ordinary things about auto-atlanta over the years, so that would probably not be my first place to buy anything.

I've had a good experience with Vertex also for Porsche parts.

<To be fair. No offense intended. With all due respect.>

Some people have a weird sense of humor. How are you so certain he wasn't just kidding around? Was that exactly what he said? Working customer service over the phone is difficult because something that may put one person at ease might set another off. I'm not defending the guy but there are two sides to any story and it would just be interesting to hear his. Of course we all know what good customer service is, and that didn't quite sound like it so don't think I'm not saying it could definitely better.

And honestly, how many people do you think know what a "944 Celebration Edition" is? Heck, even most people that own them couldn't tell you that their 944 was any different than any other. Knowing or not knowing what a "944 Celebration Edition" is would not cause any parts guy to not be able to do his job, unless someone was looking for that polarizing interior fabric. I don't know if AA sells it but I doubt they do. Not too many places would have that fabric, probably even less than would have the Silver Rose tartan pink fabric.

I've had good and bad experiences with Auto Atlanta (mainly pertaining to shipping and returns policy issues), so I am about middle of the road as far as my opinion of them goes. I'll go to Paragon, Pelican, and Vertex (in that order) first, but if none of them have what I need I would buy from AA if they were the only source.

I appreciate your PSA, but I can't help but think its the result of a bit of a bad day, mis-understanding, and a bit of a 944 chip on the shoulder. Just my opinion. But if venting here makes you feel better than that's OK.

You should have told him you were looking for 2k in parts, right before you told him you were looking elsewhere
