what ever you do... DO NOT POWDER COAT!!! not on a porsche! yeah, it looks great on a 53 foot trailer, and even a truck... but a porsche? no way. i worked in a powder coating shop and we did truck wheels all the time... but the finish isnt great, you wont get the same shine out of powder that you will out of a candy paint. candy blue would look outstanding on your car. but i have seen powder coated chrome, blue, yellow, white, you name it. it isnt as nice as candy paint. if you want the durrability, have a custom shop who coats things with fades, flames, etc. clear coat your wheels after they have been painted, most of the shine will remain.

A good finish in white, waxed monthly, will wash off the dust with a garden hose and a soapy sponge. I have never needed to use any cleaners, or much elbow grease on mine. Granted, they are not white, but they are light color with a polished stainless ring. They get dirty after about 3 days of driving.

The blue is nice, but I was never one for the CS color combo on the street.

My car has older Ronal's painted red to match my car, with the polished lip. I'm guessing the wheels were bought in the '80s. These were on the car when I bought it, I think they look awesome. I had never heard of them until I saw them on my car, are they a good set of rims? This is only the second time I have seen them.

Oh by the way, I vote white or blue.

Want to stand out ... go with the white. I saw a sport bike that was blue with white wheels ... looked sharp but it also looked a bit 80's as well. (let's see white in photoshop)

Play it safe with the usual porsche factory silver. Can't go wrong.

I'm torn on the blue colour match .. looks kind a neat at first, but I think it might look dumber as you get used to it?

The bears ... well, a class by themselves

So it looks like the gunmetal/pewter is getting voted down as the White or Blue is moving up.

Yeah, I know some powdercoating is cheap, but not the high quality stuff that this "guy" supposedly does. Besides, with the oxidation on my wheels, they aren't going to be pristine!

The blue would only look ok w/ my car if I got the wheels painted the exact color of my car, and the prepping work was more of a re-finish (which it probably won't be).

Plus, if the blue got dirty at all, it would look crappy in a hurry, and we are discussing summer/track wheels on a "beater" of a 944! My car has been to hell and back twice and will probably go there again... Albeit in a nice pretty blue with some trick looking wheels.

So I'm nixing blue, too difficult to do right in this circumstance, but for future projects...

The consensus is leaning away from the gunmental.

Silver looks good but it's boring, I have them on my phonedials, and so does everyone else.

So it looks like the White is gonne be a winner. It should hide a few blemishes and clean up well, and show off my brake dust nicely at the track (which I think is a good thing).

Any more opinions are still welcome of course, as well as a pic w/ white on the ride? j/k

Oh, and yeah, the Ronal R9s are were an 80s generation wheel, afaik. They could be polished or chromed from Ronal USA, and had a variety of bolt spacings so they could fit a good number of cars. I also believe they were rather expensive for the time and of a decent quality (or so the PS said). Would they be superior to the ROH wheels that we could afford today? Dunno. But I think I'll be weighing them before I get them on the ride for future reference. Plus, I know my sizing is up there... not many 16" by 8 and 9 inches wide rims out there!

They should give me som stick with the 032s in 255/50s in the back and either 225 or 245s in the front. Espically versus the 215/60 BFG Conp TAs on there now... note even the Z rated ones <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[crying]" />

I'm going to vote for 245's up front, with the balance of these cars I found when I ran 245 front and 255 rear the car was a just a bit more neutral and less likely to push, but it is all about finding your own setup.

Post pics when your done with the wheels whatever color you choose.

Yes, of course I will post pics... I should get one of what's left of the wheels now and you will understand what reserection means.

So the 245s up front? I had 225/50s on these wheels before, and they had a little tendency to rub up front. It looks like the 225 vs 245 is about .5 to 1 inch wider. Time to roll some fenders?

Does the fact that I am going to have front and rear Weltmeister sways on there effect anything?

The chrome shop will be looking to electrostrip my wheels Tuesday, gotta start making decisions soon!

I really like the way the blue wheel look! It actually compliments the pfone dials! I have phone dials too, but I am not that crazy about them, but they do look gorgeous in blue!

P.S. I like gunmetal a lot too, only it does not look that great on a blue car like yours... <img src="graemlins/drink.gif" border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" />
