Red face SOLD... I Miss Her Already! Good-Bye To The '86 944

We'll patience is a virtue! I sold the '86 944 nearly 2 months to the day of putting her up for sale.

I sold it locally to a mechanic. I've already told the guy about Rennlist and I think we will see him posting soon. He was an extremely nice guy and I know he will take care of the car, as he was asking me about what type of wax, tire dressing etc. to use on the car. How can you not like the guy...

Final price was $7300. I think I could have gotten an extra hundred but I dropped to $7300 from $7400 (which is where the negotiations where heading), because the rear wiper has stopped working (mysteriously) since I've let it set for 2 months while trying to sell it and he noticed it on his 2nd test drive. Oh well, money in the hand...

I explained the whole PCA thing to him and the fun we have at local events, and he said that he was going to join (translation) I'll get to see my baby at least once a month (if he attends the outings).

Anyway, I'm very happy knowing that she will go to a good home. He told me that he already has plans to do a couple of things to spruce her up. I know this sounds weird, but knowing that he is going to take care of the car means a lot to me. I was really attatched to that car. After all it was my 1st

Again, I say to those who are selling their (above average condition cars), what it out and be patient. You'll find that right buyer (with the money) and your car will be sold for what it is worth.

Bye-Bye Baby...

I have been saying for the past week that I am ready to sell my 86 944 n/a. When it comes down to it though, I do not think I can do it. The car really does mean a lot to me, despite the amount of problems and stress it causes me. A song that I listen to when the car is going through "an emotional period" is "Panheads Forever" by David Allan Coe. It usually allows me to see the brighter side of things. The 86 944 is actually the first car that I fell in love with. I remember when I was about 5 years old reading the brochure and staring at the picture of the guards red 944. That memory also helps me keep the car.

Niles is down by Indiana. I live 25 minutes north of Notre Dame (which is in South Bend), about 5 miles from Indiana border.

Good news. I spoke/saw the new owner of my '86 tonight (had to give him the spare set of keys that were in my office at work) and he said that he is going to join PCA and get involved locally.

YEAH!!!! For sure I get to see my baby on a regular basis.

My wife says I need to worry about more important things than seeing my old car on a regular basis. Women, they just don't understand...

Cory,
I bought my '84 from a guy in Granger, IN. I must have been about ten minutes from you. It took me about two hours to get there from home.

Small world... I work about 5 mins from Granger and live about 15 mins. from it.

I keep thinking about having a get together for people who post on Rennlist for this area of the country, but just never thought there was enough listers close enough to do it (in addition to the fact that I just don't have hardly any spare time right now), but I'm starting to think that there is enough of us. I was thinking about doing something cool around one of the awesome beaches on the east side of lake Michigan. St. Joseph/Holland/Saugatauk(sp?)area. Lake Michigan has some awesome beaches and some awesome roads on the dunes to drive on.

Just a thought...
