I know they are a great sponsor...and this is nothing against them !!

I think it's odd that the banner add running on the 944/968 forum for a wheel clearance sale has NO WHEELS THAT FIT OUR CARS !

I am probably overthinking it, since I have seen stupid banner adds that relate in no way to cars period....but heck...if you're going to put a sponsor's add up on a forum...I would think even from the sponsor's perspective that they would want to target the proper buyer.

Suffice it to say I saw WHEEL CLEARANCE and looked....and found that the clearance contained nothing for my car and so I clicked CLOSE.

Oh well...just another banner add rant...nothing to see here.

I hear you, but it's more Porsche's fault for using a giant bolt pattern like 5x130. If they were 5x100 or 5x114 we'd have all sorts of choices when it comes to wheels.

On the Ford Truck site I frequent, rolling over the word "truck" anywhere on the page brings up Chevy truck ads. Does not go over well...

I've done a lot of research recently on this...you can have adapters made to go from the 5X130 to 5X114.3 (which is the same as the mopar and ford lug pattern) or to 5X4.75 (which is the chevy pattern) for not too much...the problem that most see here is that most wheels you would want to buy are not hub centric, or have the wrong hub size...well, that's not entirely true, most wheels have a center bore of a certain size (cragar aftermarkets are 3.300 inches). You can have a hubcentric ring machined that will fit over the remaining portion of the hub sticking out in front of the adapter, that will let you make pretty much any wheel hub centric to the porsche hub....

here's what i'm talking about:
wheel adapters (can be made as slim as 1 inch or much thicker)

here are the rings

this set-up will allow you to run (to the best of my knowledge) almost any aftermarket wheel available nowadays...you can even find some wheels with nice backspacing so you can have a deep lip like on the 930's
