Did you get a chance to drive with them on and test them through the full suspension travel?

Actually I did but I only put on one side when I drove it.

Nice, Hope they work out well for you and when you get them for your car, you should throw up a picture!

If I go that way I will. After checking out the price of rubber for the 18" rims I think i am leaning toward a few other options:

1) keeping my 16x8 rims (or buying a lighter set) and getting 245/45-16 tires all around.

2) Converting my street rims to track (16x7.5 and 16x9 club sport rims). This would allow me to get a 265/45-16 rear on and keep a 225/50-15 or a 245/45-16 on the front.

Yup, rubber for 18s is pretty expensive. A good $400 at least for rears alone if you want anything with good performance.

Was almost $600 for rear competition tires. Woudl have been about $1200 for set of 4. Now have to decide whcih option to go with.

Dan

I am doing your option#1

In addition to my D90's which I will keep for the street, I now have 2 sets of the 968 Cup wheels......so I can combine them to run 8's all around (probably try to sell the 7's).

Have not decided on rubber yet but for now it will just be high performance street tires....I am not ready for slicks

Hi Joe,

How ya doing? I have been running 8" phone dials with 245/45-16's at all four corners with success. I am thinking of going with a lighter rim and the BF Goodrich g-force r1 tires. I have heard good things about them. My phone dials are heavy so I am looking for a set of 8" club sport rims.

I seem to recall someone here was selling 8" Club Sports not too long ago....good prices too.

what's your track schedule this year?

According to this site, 944racing, the phone dials are lighter than the CS wheels.

Dan, like I said by txt I don't think those fronts would work. It might have worked on the street with the wheels you test fitted, but on the track and especially at an auto-x I bet you would get some nasty rubbing with the suspension loaded and the wheel turned hard. I have problems with 245 fronts on 17x7.5 fronts which are in the low 50 offset range. And yes I have the factory rolled fenders on mine also. Granted I am pretty softly sprung in the front, I think with the 10+mm those wheels would stick out you would of had the same problems

If you decide to go with another set of wheels, I would look for fronts in the mid 55 range and rears in the 50+ range. Also I would stick with 17"s at most. For that I would go with factory wheels or the more expensive route, CCWs.

Dan, call me - i may have a line on a set of used forgelines for you.

can you fit your rears on the front? the 9" should fit a 255. what if you got a pair of 9" factory forged and ran 9" all around?

Right now I am using 8"s on the front with 245/45-16 for track and autocross without a problem. The wheels I fitted were Henry's and we both drove it and he said it would be fine. He is running 8.5 inch rims with 46mm offest. The 18's would be a half inch smaller with a 6mm smaller offset so it should be a wash. That being said I didn't get the 1" wheels.

Hey Buddy. Long time no speak. AT the risk of sounding gay I miss you over over here.

I didn't try me rears (9s) on the front BUT they have 245/45-16 on them and that is what I am running up front with 8" wheels. I was considering getting a set of 9s all around as I could run 265/45-16 in the rear and the 245/45 on the front.

What's the deal with the Forgelines?

I'll call you.

That is because your phone dials are the correct offset.... in the mid 50's.
