Hinge for center console?
Is that this??

My car I believe has 2 small hinges...not one huge one...
Also I just have the armrest with the little storage area inside, not one with an open top as pictured.
Thanks,
Adrial

My '89 has the hinge tray that's in the picture from Paragon from the link you posted.
I'd be interested to see what you have if it's not like mine... for curiosity sakes!

Adrial. You have to remove and transfer the padded cover from your present console to the new hinge. Sounds like maybe yours has had a home repair, which might not be a bad thing, since even a brand new one will have a limited life.

I just replaced the hinge/tray...Opened it about 1/2 dozen times and it is already starting to tear at the front...JUNK...$20 down the drain...
I haven't thought about it much but I will defintely come up with something better...

Damian, I been around...You just haven't noticed me! :-p Do you know if there's still room in the 968 brigade at Hershey? I still gotta make my reservations if not.
Mark, Eh, makes sense...
With everybody posting about all these problems I dont see why someone doesn't start selling some hinges...perhaps I'll look at it and go to the hardware store and see whats involved. I cant imagine it being too difficult.
Dave, will the new engine be in in time for the March 30th Metro NY region season opener autox?? It'll be at Tobay beach on LI. If you know where jones beach is, its around there.

IN?!? I'm hoping it's HERE by then so it can be in and broken in by NNJ's opener on 4/27. Yeah, I know where Tobay is, my avatar was taken there at the zone 1 AX 2 years ago, before that I put up the county's communications system in the NW corner of the lot (I hate jobs for local gov., never enough $$$ in the budget to do it even close to right)

Not the "proper" replacement but this hinge cost $0.99 at the hardware store with no shipping charges. It is also a lot more durable.

It's been years, but I bought a metal hinge replacement (Wings in Conn??) that replaced the plastic piece on my old 944.
Adrial, I think the hotel may have rooms, but the 968 guys have filled the group buy rooms at the cheaper prices. We're up to 65 cars, and close to 70 owners confirmed. I'm not sure we'll fit them all in that one parking lot.

My hinge was missing when I bought the car.
I simply used black tape (the kind with the cloth stitched into it) on the inside (where the hinge would go). It matches flush (same color) and you can't see it when it's closed. Holds very well and is "flexible", eliminating the top part ripping by the hinge.
Even if I got the original hinge, I would still use the tape.
