Ugh. Using a harness bar with a static, fixed 5-6 point harness is a REALLY bad idea. You have no roll over protection at all and the harness will keep you pinned to the seat. Hello spinal compression!

Everything works together as a system. That means not using a 5-6 point static harness without the proper rollover protection in the car.

Not to re-re-restart this debate, but hypothetically, you're on track and your car (which has no roll bar) is going to have SOME sort of impact (front, side, top, multiple), would you rather have a fresh set of six-point harnesses on, or a floppy, 22 year old 3-point belt? No brainer.

I really like the Corbeau Forza's. I found a cheaper set though. What do you think of these? Anyone have any info? They are half the price so that worries me about the workmanship.. The cheapers ones come with universal sliders also.

$299.00 per SEAT

$299.00 FOR A SET

I would not buy the cheap seats. JCWhitney is not known for quality, and seats are a safety item. Spend the extra money and you will not regret it.

Look,
Do you want a proper racing seat (fixed back, either aluinum or composite?) Or do you want a reclining "boy racer" seat?

Also what about the harness? If you are getting a harness which is what you want to use on track with a racing seat you need at a minium a strong mounting for the shoulder straps. That pretty much means a roll bar. There are a few harness bars that can act a strong shouler harenss mountings, but most cannot.

Consider the total cost done right.
Two (Driver & Passenger) racing seat fixed back
$500 each = $1000
Harness
$250 each = $500
Harness truss or roll bar
$500 to 700
Total bill = $2000 to $2200.

If you are not going to do all that I suggest looking for used factory sport seats and just use your 3pt belts. A GC lock can keep the belt tight and when combined with sport seats will hold you in place so you don't floop around in the turns on track.

You don't need a race seat of any sort if that's going to be your usage. Skip the hassle (and the accompanying debate about harnsses, rollbars, etc) and stick to something that is proven to work.

I'm sure his current seats "work." If he wants more lateral security and wants to use the OEM 3 point belts, then he's looking in the right direction. I just wouldn't trust my life to a JC Whitney seat.

If you are going to use the OEM seatbelt, consider stock Porsche sport seats. The 911 sport seats from our era should fit with some work, and obviously 944 sport seats are a bolt in. They give more support than the regular seat.

And I second Joe's recommendation for a CGLock device. It got me through several DEs.

Like mentioned before, tube frame seats suck. The corbeaus you posted are tube frame fyi.

One thing that I dont think anyone mentioned is to buy the same or better seat for the passenger. If you start doing DEs and you have a nice drivers seat and factory passenger seat or some garbage seat, that is generally frowned upon by most organizations. PCA wouldn't let you run. Harnesses should be equal for driver and passenger as well (to a certain extent).

Keep your eyes out for used seats. Good deals can be had. I got a spg and a pole position for $850 shipped to my door. The pole position was new.

If you end up going the whole 9 yards with harnesses and seats and rollbar/guide bar, know this document: http://www.schrothracing.com/docs/Co...structions.pdf
