I don't really have a specific set of criteria when adding a car to my collection. I'm not really focused on price, or scarcity, or long-term value. I guess it's emotional more than anything else (an excellent way to lose serious $$).
As an almost-embarrassing example, the next 3 cars I want to add to my garage are:
Shelby Cobra
Bandit Trans Am
Chevy Citation X/11 (not a typo)
As for the 951, I've been looking for awhile. This car is the poster that I had on my bedroom wall in 1986. It was my fantasy car. Back then, it was a dream. But now it's a reality. The only problem is that Porsche no longer sells brand new 944 Turbos. So I'll have to create one - which is what I'm doing. I want to get up, get dressed, and drive to work in my brand new 951 just as if I picked it up at the dealer yesterday.
I walked into my garage this morning, looked at my $300k Ferrari and said "Nope - It's gotta be the $9k Porsche today". I dunno. Maybe I'm just a little odd - but I really love this car.

Former Vendor
Classic 9's Silverknit carpets are VERY nice. Since Bob is local to me, I had opportunity to meet with him in person for a couple of my projects, and he showed me samples of his German vs. Domestic carpets, as well as the cheap crap you can get on eBay. His domestic stuff is very nice, and I would definitely consider it for a non-concourse driver (which all of my cars are) just because the quality is good enough and obviously way better than the eBay crap or what's currently in my old toofahs! But the Silverknit is top notch, definitely a step up from the Domestic.
He retails the 944 domestic kit for $419 and the German silverknit version for $799.

I'm terrible with a camera. Here's a thread on Autopia that my detailer posted that has some nice shots:

But the picture with the Porsche, the Aston Martin, and the Ferrari is wrong.
The Aston Martin should be in front,
The Ferrari should be in the middle,
and the 911 should be in the rear!
