Mileage alone can't tell the whole story. The owner of this car could simply live 1 mile from everything they do. Drive to work and back home for lunch everyday. So they get in and out of the car for every 1 mile driven.
Unlike a highway commuter that might have perfect seat bolsters because they get in/out once for every 200 miles driven.

That red cloth interior is very soft and i'm not surprised the bolster is ripped. snag one thread on your belt and the whole thing will rip. i don't think they are lying about the mileage. it may be genuinely low, but the car was not kept in a bubble for the last 22 years, hence it's not showroom perfect.

Unless a super hardcore fan from here goes around telling people how their reserves are too low and how great the car is.

If you watch classic (older) car auctions on the 'Bay, it is real common for other owners of similar cars to complement the seller's car. No question it can be abused by shills. Caveat emptor always applies.

A legit 39,000 mile 951 should be a cream puff (that is, if they are demanding 39,000 mile prices for the car). Not one with a destroyed bolster, drilled fender for a stupid antenna, and a sweet badge.
As incredibly easy as it is to roll back a 944 odometer, the responses here seem incredibly trusting.

It used to be that all questions sent to the seller were posted, with responses. Now it's rare, because the seller has a choice of whether to post it.

So, How many miles do you think it "really" has? An '88 would have a 6-digit odo, do you think it's been replaced, or tampered with? Is wear on the bolsters your only basis for doubting this is legitimately a 39k car?

To each his own.
